  • Epson Joins LIPA, the Laser Illuminated Projector Association

Epson has joined the Laser Illuminated Projector Association (LIPA) as a Leader Level member. LIPA is focused on speeding the adoption of laser illuminated projectors across all venues worldwide and enacting regulatory change for the industry. LIPA's mission supports Epson as a leading provider of laser projection solutions to markets worldwide. Epson's most technologically advanced projectors combine 3LCD technology with laser light sources and are used in a wide variety of applications such as education, business, home theater and rental & staging.

"LIPA and Epson are committed to common objectives which will provide long-term benefits to the projector industry and, ultimately, to projector users globally," said Richard Miller, director, Epson America. "With this membership, Epson is pleased to be a part of LIPA and support the market opening activities in which LIPA specializes."

With 25 members involved in the laser illuminated data projector business, LIPA has focused its efforts on establishing standards, educating regulators and developing evaluation methods to measure the benefits of laser engines in projectors. Some notable accomplishments include completion of updates for worldwide safety standards for laser-embedded products; a published report providing practical guidance and measurement criteria for determining installation and operational standards; as well as publication of recommended practice for determination of speckle in a laboratory setting.

"LIPA is incredibly pleased that Epson will now be able to contribute its considerable market presence to our efforts to accelerate adoption of laser illuminated projection systems," said Heidi Hoffman, managing director, LIPA. "Epson's membership adds to our efforts to educate important stakeholders and simplify global regulations for laser illuminated data projectors, particularly in the consumer segments."
