  • DTS and Jargon Team Up For 4K Blu-ray Production Tools

DTS, a leader in high-definition audio enhancement technologies and solutions, and Jargon Technologies, developer of the Indigo Ultra Authoring System, have announced a distribution partnership to include the DTS:X Encoder and the DTS BD Digital Bridge Tool Suite with their Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray authoring software. Combined, these two DTS innovations will bring to Blu-ray Disc an unprecedented level of immersion, flexibility, and interactivity.

As the successor to the DTS-HD Master Audio Suite, the DTS:X Encoder delivers the ability to create both legacy DTS-HD and next-generation DTS:X audio bitstreams. DTS:X enables unprecedented personalized entertainment experiences for the home through the use of immersive, object-based audio technology.

The DTS BD Digital Bridge Tool Suite provides studios and production facilities the ability to make the media content on their Blu-ray Disc titles portable within the home network using Digital Bridge Export. This feature operates on select Ultra HD Blu-ray players for both Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray titles, allowing the consumer to easily export the media without any loss of quality to other electronic formats and devices.

"Indigo Ultra supports seamless integration of DTS:X on Blu-ray for the highest quality audio experiences. DTS has taken initiative in driving the Ultra HD Blu-ray format by creating a suite of tools for object-based audio encoding and the Digital Bridge Export functionality of the Blu-ray specification," said Bhanu Srikanth, chief executive of Jargon Technologies. "The combined bundle of Indigo Ultra and DTS tools represents the essential solution for Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D production, which will fulfill all the needs of our customers."

"At our core, DTS strives to deliver to consumers the best possible entertainment experiences," said Mark Johnson, senior vice president of media solutions at DTS. "Our DTS:X and digital bridge technologies take that commitment to a whole new level, and our distribution partnership with Jargon Technologies will help ensure that the entire content authoring community will have access to these technologies for enhancing both legacy and next-generation Blu-ray Discs."
