Sony DADC New Media Solutions Showcases New Proprietary Tools On 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Titles. Major Studios Tap Cutting Edge 4K Ultra HD Disc Authoring Services to Deliver Enhanced Audio & Video Capabilities.
Sony DADC New Media Solutions (NMS) announced the implementation of its new Ultra HD (UHD) Blu-ray authoring tools on the 2016 scheduled 4K Ultra HD Disc releases of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Chappie, Hancock, Pineapple Express, Salt, and The Smurfs 2, and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment's Wild and Maze Runner: Scorch Trials. As a leading pioneer in authoring technologies, NMS designed its proprietary toolset to efficiently integrate and deliver advanced functionality of UHD Blu-ray to help major studios and content owners deliver a theater quality experience into consumer's homes.

At the forefront of authoring services for the past twenty years, NMS was instrumental in the development and launches of DVD™, Blu-ray™, Blu-ray 3D™, BD-Live™, and UltraViolet™ formats. NMS also helped develop the technology for UHD compression and employs Sony's latest encoding technology to yield high quality 4K/UHD HDR video from diverse content sources. In November, NMS became the first facility to have passed the official Blu-ray Disc Association First Product Model Verification (FPMV) under Commercial Audio Visual (CAV) Profile 6.0. NMS also supports advanced content protection such as AACS forensic watermarking and created the official AACS test disc.
NMS' advanced authoring capabilities include Dolby Atmos object-based audio format, DTS:X object-based audio format, standards compliant HDR-10 profile, triple layer 100G disc authoring, seamless branching, and dual-zone technology to maximize disc capacity, menus, and subtitle conversions.
