Universal has been in the US Details about the first Ultra HD Blu-rays known. In Germany, Universal has already announced plans to release first Ultra HD Blu-rays, but so far still no specific information films and dates. Besides its own films Universal will also publish the first Ultra HD Blu-rays by Paramount in Germany also. It is already announced for US movies "Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness". Who "Lone Survivor" with DTS: want to experience X-Mix, is dependent on the US import. Because "Lone Survivor" is not sold in Germany by Universal - the rights are owned by Universum Film.
Also Universal presents its Ultra HD Blu-rays with "High Dynamic Range" (HDR) and will thereby partially also use "Dolby Vision" HDR. Dolby Vision is an optional standard of Ultra HD Blu-ray specifications with dynamic metadata that is designed for brightness peak values of up to 10,000 nits (cd / m2) and uses a 12-bit color resolution, for the producers but also with additional costs connected.
With Universal are now making almost all major Hollywood studios in the Ultra HD Blu-ray. Fox and Warner have already brought first in Germany Ultra HD Blu-rays on the market and Sony is expected to release the first Ultra HD Blu-rays in summer. Paramount has already announced its first films in the US. Only Disney is so far ahead of the outside and has made no announcement for first Ultra HD Blu-rays.
