The first news ahead of the Internationale Funk Ausstellung, is starting to pop-up. MMD, the multimedia display division of Chinese display giant TPV Technology, that acquired the Philips TV and Monitor businesses a few years ago, is jumping forwards to proper UHDTV, not mere 4K. With the launch of an 32" 8K monitor. "On show will be an 8K 32-inch display, which also features an elegant frameless design on all four sides to create an immersive viewing experience", the company said in a pre-show announcement. Sofar only Dell has introduced a 32" 8K monitor.
Two other interesting higher-end monitors to be launched are an 31,5” 4K professional display with HDR and USB-C docking. And the 31,5” QHD display with Adobe RGB color range and USB-docking functionality.
Not all news is good news tough as: "The 2017-2018 line-up of Philips monitors clearly demonstrates commitment to curved design", adding better news in: "and outstanding color reproduction". For personal displays curved is not as bad is it is for TVs that need the capability to be used by multiple people at the same, and from a wider range of seating and therefor viewing angles.
And the range of curved models that will be on display at IFA 2017 will range from 27 to 49 inches. The "deliver an outstanding color experience", should be covered by Ultra Wide-Color technology, Quantum Dot and HDR wich will all be available to see at the MMD Philips booth.
IFA, the international consumer electronics show is to be held for the 57th time in Berlin next month, and runs from September 1 through to September 6.
