Optoma announced the European launch of its new flagship 4K UHD laser projector, the UHZ65. The new UHZ65 harnesses laser illumination along with the same high-end specifications as its UHD65. The projector should be available at retail outlets sometime in November, with an MSRP of €/£4999.99, including VAT.
According to Kishan Mistry, Senior Product Manager at Optoma EMEA: “Reviews for the UHD65 have been excellent so we’re excited to be unveiling the next evolution of 4K home cinema projection with the UHZ65. Ultra High Definition coupled with laser technology delivers a truly spectacular experience for film fanatics, and the addition of the UHZ65 to our home range offers the ultimate in home projection”.
Though some reviews do note the UHD65/60's low on-off contrast ratio and weaker black level performance compared to some of the other 4K, and pixel shifting projectors, from Sony, JVC and Epson.
Equipped with high-quality laser illumination, the UHZ65 provides increased efficiency to maintain consistent brightness, superior colour performance, instant on/off and an extraordinary life span of up to 20,000 hours.
Optoma is capitalising on the fast switching speed of the DLP chip with XPR technology and advanced image processing, so 8.3 million pixels are delivered to the screen without alignment issues, especially critical at 4K, with four times as many pixels as 1080p. This brings ultimate clarity to home users.
With its full 8.3 million on-screen pixels, the new model meets the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) requirements for 4K UHD and complies with the CTA High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible display standards. This guarantees razor sharp, vivid images capable of showing more details than standard HD.
The UHZ65 fully supports HDCP 2.2, the latest evolution of copy protection so users can enjoy the fast-growing choice of 4K content.
