NEC Initially announced world’s brightest RB laser projectors for large venues (the Christie launched last year was around 25K lumens), at the beginning of the year for release in January (with typo saying 2019 instead of 201, but that release was somehow withdrawn.
Eyewitness report of earlier showing was posted here.
NEC will now start supplying the NEC PH3501QL and NEC PH2601QL models in March-April 2018.
According to NEC its 'latest PH Series combines superior image quality at large resolutions with low cost of ownership' and its that its 'bright red-blue (RB) laser projectors are designed to bring cinema quality imagery to the largest venues'.
The new NEC PH3501QL and NEC PH2601QL, feature super-bright projection, real 4K resolution and wide colour space. The PH Series has been designed to meet the demand of major venues that seek premium, cinema-quality projection at an affordable lifetime cost. The new projectors use the latest advances in RB laser light source technology to bring new brightness levels and high resolution, combined with low operational costs for a range of applications and venues. The PH3501QL delivers 40,000 center lumens, while the PH2601QL features 30,000 center lumens.
According to NEC the new flagship models harnesses the best of both laser phosphor and RGB laser technologies resulting in a powerful projector which delivers compelling benefits in terms of cost, operational efficiency and immersive image quality. The use of a red and blue laser light source goes beyond the colour and brightness output of traditional laser phosphor projection systems providing a brilliant image with high uniformity. Traditional Blue Laser+phosphor projectors are generally limited to Rec. 709 color space or smaller color space.
The efficient light processing system delivers huge savings in operational costs compared to lamp-based projection systems thanks to lower power consumption, maintenance-free operation, and no need for lamp and filter replacements over the laser’s 20,000 hour lifetime.
“NEC has a long heritage in a huge range of display technologies, including cinema and large scale projection, and our new projector family has been designed to meet the needs of a market that is demanding large scale and reliable visual display solutions,” said Gerd Kaiser, Senior Product Line Manager, Large Venue Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
“Presentations to very large audiences require a huge visual canvas on which to deliver an eye-pleasing and easy-to-read visual experience – often ten metres or even more. Our new PH Series projectors respond to these needs with true 4K imagery and up to 40,000 center lumens brightness for perfect viewing experiences even in demanding light conditions. We have harnessed our expertise to bring cinema quality picture to the mainstream, and make it the standard for every venue, application or occasion. The wide colour space can even be calibrated for reliable colour reproduction, making it perfectly suited for colour critical workflows, or common presentation formats such as video streams.”
The PH Series features maximum installation flexibility, with extra-wide vertical +/- 50% and horizontal +/- 17% lens shift – better than any real 4K competitive product on the market – combined with a selection of wide zoom bayonet lenses. This guarantees hassle-free installation and facilitates easy replacement of old projectors. The projectors also feature future-proofed signal connectivity including numerous 4K resolution inputs and intelligent signal processing such as Picture in Picture or Picture by Picture, to provide “pixel-free viewing“ on a large scale.
NEC Display Solutions Europe will be debuting the innovative PH Series projectors at ISE 2018 in Amsterdam now in February. To arrange a briefing and demonstration, please contact the press office.
The NEC PH3501QL and NEC PH2601QL models will be available in March-April 2018. For further product information, please visit web pages:
