French theater chain Gaumont Pathé is the first to combine Ymagis' EclairColor HDR system with the Barco higher contrast DLP Cinema Laser projectors. Till recently Eclair only worked with Sony LCoS DCi projectors, as DLP cinema projectors were lacking in sequential contrast, that tends to vary between 1700:1 to 2400:1, whereas the Sony's were specced at upto 8000:1 and the latest laser-phosphor unit has been measured to reach approximately 20000:1, on DCI-Forum.com. With the advent of 5000:1 or better DLP Cinema projectors Eclair Color added the Barco High Contrast models to its roster of supported projectors.
The first implementation was in Paris at Gaumont Pathé Opera in Paris, France.
“We can really count on these high-quality projectors, which allow us to provide our viewers with excellent quality. We’ve worked with Barco since the digital launch in 2008 and their products are always on the cutting-edge of technology. Now, we are reaping the benefits of Barco and EclairColor HDR and experiencing high quality, reliable performance”, says Sévrine Breil, Regional Director for Cinemas Gaumont Pathé.
