Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI) has issued LED Display guidelines for Digital Cinema application. Display Industry won some points. For instance DCi starts to allow front servicability, reducing cost of both installation and the displays themselves. On the other hand all displays have to be at least 4K, so the Samsung 5 meter version would not comply, being a quarter of the current 4K Onyx Cinema, Cinema LED display. Though there is a lot of discussion of 2K content and delivery/packaging, so the document is far from definit, more tentative. Versioning shows it is a work in progress.
There is a choice for the PQ EOTF, leaving other signal to light conversion curves, like HLG or Eclair Color. The document also defines chromaticity. And the vieuwing distance, by saying no pixels may be visible.
