IBC hit an attendance record of 57,669 visitors across the six day event, last year, its 50th anniversary year. It saw a small decrease in attendance this year drawing 55,884 people to its conference and tradeshow. Down 1785 people, or three percent compared to last year's show. From 2016 to 2017 the event attracted only an additional 88 people, so attendance growth has been levelling of following considerable growth in the years befor. And adding over twenty thousand visitors since the mid-nineties.

But Sunday and in particular the Monday were quieter. The Monday usually attracts regional trade visitors, perhaps less so this year, as the Monday seemed much quieter than usual.
The exhibition floor space grew by 667m2, and exhibitor count grew to 1800.
Indeed the tent, or pavillion as show organisers prefer to call it, looked bigger than previous year.
The conference grew, having a larger programme, to attract 14% more conference delegates were year on year. With a targeted effort increasing women speakers at the conference up from 14% to 37%. The IBC International Honour for Excellence saw its first-ever woman recipient this yea. Joan Ganz Cooney was the co-creator of the global phenomenon that is Sesame Street, 50 years ago and her trophy was collected on her behalf by one of the street's longest residents, Ernie.
IBC2019 starts with the first day of conference sessions on Thursday 12 September, running until the exhibition closes on Tuesday 17 September.
