  • Panasonic halts production of large Lamp-based projectors

Panasonic will halt the production and sale of its last remaining series of lamp-based high brightness projectors. By discontinuing the PT-DZ21K projector series in March, the big Panasonic projectors will all be using laser-phosphor light sources.

The DZ21K was launched back in 2012 two years before the first Panasonic high brightness laser-phosphor projector. In 2017 the company launched the one-on-one replacement laser-phosphor series the PT-RZ21K-projector.

"The DZ21K was a gamechanger in the market with its 20,000 lumen, however the rental & staging and evts market has completely embraced laserprojection", says Hartmut Kulessa, European Marketing Manager at Panasonic. He adds "with the lasertechnology we will see the market expand with (semi-)permanent  mappings, that become commercially viable thanks to improved performance of the laser projectors".

Competitors to Panasonic even offer single chip DLP laser-phosphor projectors with a specified brightness of 20,000 lumens.
