Good news for troubled Ymagis Group that is currently undergoing a restructuring, its CinemaNext subsidiary has signed an agreement with Austrian Circuit Cineplexx for 150 Next-Generation Barco Laser Projectors.
This first major renewal contract for the Ymagis Group confirms the start of a new phase of digital projector installations in Europe, as the Xenon lamp based projectors reach the end of their economic life, and projector suppiers are releasing RGB LASER projectors that can act as drop in replacements, like this new Series 4 range by Barco.
CinemaNext Austria and Austrian cinema circuit Cineplexx (Cineplexx Kinobetriebe GmbH) have signed an agreement for the installation of a minimum of 150 laser projectors over the next two years. The installations will take place between July 2019 and the end of the year 2021.
The agreement consists of the replacement of the first generation of “Series 1" digital projectors installed in existing Cineplexx cinemas (131 screens) between 2008 and 2009 as well as the circuit’s new builds, for a total of more than 150 screens at Cineplexx locations in Austria and Southeastern Europe.
Supplied by Cinionic, the latest-generation Barco laser phosphor and RGB projectors significantly improve image resolution and operational performance.
For Jean Mizrahi, Chairman of the Ymagis Group, “This important contract with such an innovative and key player in the European film industry as Cineplexx underscores the competitiveness and quality of services provided by CinemaNext. It also marks the start of a new phase of equipment renewal with the replacement of the first generation of digital projectors installed in Europe between 2007 and 2013."
