An exciting IBC experience
BT Media & Broadcast had a large stand in the Outside Exhibition area at this year’s International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase our brand new UHD-capable fibre/satellite hybrid links truck and the powered cabinet we’ve installed at every Premier League football stadium. We were warmly welcomed by customers, suppliers, and press from around the world and attracted lots of interest in our live demonstrations and keynote panels.
BT Media & Broadcast have a proud history of world firsts in everything from HD transmission and MPLS-based broadcasting to software based digital media workflows and beyond. At IBC, we made history again as our team made another first by showcasing the first live sporting event transmitted in 4K using brand new Ericsson HEVC encoding technology over fibre. And because we can’t rest on our laurels, the next day we did it again but this time over satellite.
Over the course of the week—long event, our team of focussed sales, product, technical consulting, design delivery and operational people took the time to meet our existing customers, as well as new people who we’re looking forward to work with, and show them our latest capabilities, especially in the TV Outside Broadcast space.
Mark Wilson-Dunn, VP of BT M&B said “our presence at the show was very much centred around our outside broadcast capabilities as we were showing our latest 4K hybrid truck and our revolutionary ‘powered network cabinet’ which has already enabled us to win a very significant new contract in the football market”.
With over 55,000 media executives, opinion formers, engineers and broadcast professionals visiting the IBC halls in order to define their technical strategy for the year ahead, this was a perfect opportunity for us to showcase our portfolio.
We also held keynote panels, discussing important topics such as ‘The Future of Outside Broadcasting’, ‘Next Generation Networking’, ;4K, HDR and Beyond’, and ‘Cyber Security’. You can get a recap on these here.
And you can find out more about our strategy right here – watch Mark Wilson-Dunn tell you all in our video below.
