  • ISE 2017: Panasonic lasering in on live events, launching new 20,000 lumens proj

Panasonic will launch a new 20,000 lumens projector at ISE 2017, a replacement for the PT-DZ21K, Europe’s best selling high-brightness projector. Set to be the new reference projector in the rental industry, it will make its debut in Amsterdam.

In addition, the company is set to demonstrate its live events capability, with a show combining laser projection technology, 3D mapping and performers interacting with moving projection courtesy of the newly launched PT-RZ31K, a 31,000 lumens laser projector developed for the live market.

Hartmut Kulessa, European Projector Marketing Manager at Panasonic, said, “Our annual showcase is fast becoming a tradition at ISE and this year we will create a live event display, which uses the latest AV techniques and is sure to stop people in their tracks".

Adding: “Our relentless innovation in laser technology means we now have a roster of projection products that perfectly position us for the live events market.”

ISE 2017 will also see the launch of LinkRay, introduced as a concept at ISE 2016, the 1-2-1 marketing solution uses individual codes within LED light sources as a source of information. LinkRay will be embedded inside a new display line up and, in addition, visitors to the stand will have the option to download product information, direct to their smart phones, from light plates throughout the stand.

The Panasonic booth (Hall 1, Stand H20) will be split in to audiovisual solutions for the education, corporate, public displays and live event sectors.

WARPRO SETS TOUGH FIRST TEST FOR RZ31K
The Panasonic PT-RZ31K has been put to the test by Warpro, the first UK rental company to commit to the newly launched 30,000 lumens laser projector.

The company has used the projector for an installation in tandem with Edinburgh’s ‘Street of Light’ celebration, battling 300 lux of ambient light to create a building projection on the Tigerlily Hotel on the city’s George Street.

The Street of Light runs until Christmas Eve and features over 60,000 bulbs. The projection, designed by Andy McGregor, needed to cut through the almost daylight ambient light levels to create a light spectacle of its own.

Alistair Young, MD of Warpro, said, “Everything about it says it’s wrong. We are battling against extreme ambient light with a projector positioned just 12 metres from the building.

“Last year, we used two projectors double stacked from the opposite side of the street, but this year we also had to cope with the ‘Street of Light’ and were able to do so with just a single 30,000 lumens unit fitted with a wide angle lens. From an optical, light output and power consumption perspective, I don’t think this would have been possible using any other unit or units.”

The results speak for themselves and a short film of Santa virtually climbing the building has had well over half a million views on Facebook with the show becoming a “must see” attraction in Edinburgh’s festive calendar.

Available in both WUXGA and SXGA+, the PT-RZ31K series is the brightest in the Panasonic range with an exceptionally compact and lightweight body harnessing powerful SOLID SHINE laser technology. In normal operation, the RZ31K is designed for 20,000 hours of maintenance free operation.

Gareth Day, Group Manager for Panasonic Visual Systems in the UK, said, “We are starting to see installations, such as this one, where compact, high brightness laser projection is expanding the scope of what’s achievable. Warpro was the first UK company to commit to the RZ31K and has also added ten 9,000 lumen laser projectors to their roster, so are playing a key role in the adoption of laser projection technology in the rental market.”

We might see these lighting system projectors in the commercial, public display section of the generally large Panasonic stand at ISE this year, combined led code tracking system LinkRay:

Panasonic hybrid lighting projector gets brightness boost
The Space Player™, Panasonic’s hybrid lighting projector, has been updated with a new content manager and improved brightness.

The new laser projector integrates in to an existing lighting rail system and comes equipped with 2,000 lumens of brightness and a 20,000 hour laser light source, making it suitable for extended use within retail and leisure environments.

The new Space Player (PT-JX200) uses newly developed Content Manager software, which enables simple signage functionality such as timetabled automated operation, content playlists, input switching and brightness level adjustment.

Making use of Panasonic’s robust 1-chip DLP™ SOLID SHINE laser technology, the Space Player has a filter-less optical engine for fit-and-forget operation. The new JX200 also has the ability to colour match between multiple projectors used simultaneously and has the capability to project in any direction below horizontal.

The range is available as both a standard ceiling mount or with an optional table mount (PT-JX200F), for additional flexibility.

“The Space Player can be easily integrated into existing lighting infrastructures and gives an easy, cost effective way of creating impressive AV displays that add real value to a customer’s experience, whether they’re shopping, at a restaurant or exploring a museum,” said Thomas Vertommen, European Projector Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic.
