Go bigger with SIM2 short throw TV and Screen Innovation 110" screen.

Not really a flat panel but the SIM2 short throw projector coupled with the Screen Innovation 110" screen delivers the same experience. You cannot see it in the picture but to the right is an all glass wall of sliders in the bright sunny state of Florida. I had reservations the system would be able to fight off the ambient light by day but it does a wonderful job and looks killer. At night I can turn on all room lighting and no degrading of PQ specifically contrast. The 1080p HD projector has a Laser light source so no lamp to replace and very energy efficient.
I am not a an avid TV watcher ( I have a OLED in another room for critical viewing ) and when faced with a choice of spending upward of $60,000 for a flat panel smaller then 110" and knowing it would be replaced with a newer model next year it made perfect sense to go bigger with the  SIM2 short throw TV and Screen Innovation 110" screen.
Amazingly the screen does not suffer from light falloff at off axis viewing and to my surprise there is no visible screen texture. The projector is plenty bright at 110. The system really delivers top performance. Anyone considering a really big screen TV experience this is a great alternative that delivers the goods at a huge savings without compromise.

Impressive. The 4K LCDs are very competitive upto the 85/86 inch mark, those start around the $5000-6000 mark, if one wants one's display to be bigger the price jumps into the tens of thousands. So good to see the combination work so well. It also comes in a version that can be integrated into a piece of furniture (or ceiling?).

Thanks Donald. I went with a 120" but was able to get 130" on the white wall before installing the screen. They recommend not going beyond 120 because the lens is fixed other then focus but I can confirm 130 works but that is the limit. Coupled with Screen Innovations screen it is a system hard to beat. I leave all my lights on and have a full wall of sliders 1 foot to the right of the screen and somehow it does not degrade PQ. Of course the screen plays a big roll in rejecting ambient light.
I was also surprised how good it looks off axis and no visible screen texture at all. I highly recommend this combination.

I could not judge the light rejection this year, as it was part of the darker section of the Coretronic booth at ISE, but the hard surface grey screen I have seen at several vendors, worked well in retaining color and contrast off-axis, when demonstrating the new 4K XPR UST Red+Blue projector.  Last year I saw it at Viewsonic (and while not in use, at Ricoh) in the open booth and it seemed to work, so a good screen helps, but good day light rejection screens are difficult to design/make. So good to hear this Screen Innovation screen is worth it.
