Here are some pics of my DCI install. I can't believe its been almost two years since I swapped from a DPI Titan Reference 3D to a Barco DP4K-23B.
At the time, the biggest reason for the upgrade was for 4K resolution and for extreme brightness for 3D. Since then my interest in 3D has slowly waned.
I was hoping to have more 4k content readily available by now, but at least it now seems like 4K is growing in popularity.
My Barco projector has run trouble free since its initial install, where I had a bad board that had to be swapped. Since then, I have never once had an issue. I have become pretty fluent with the Barco Post Production software and it is incredible.
Just recently I added a Doremi IMS-1000 server. The main reason for this add was for the 4K HDMI input, which Doremi told me was active and working prior to me ordering. After I received it, I could not get it to receive a 4K HDMI signal, and then I was told they were mistaken, and that while 4K @ 24 and 4k @ 60 are in the works for HDMI, the software updates were not available yet. I was told it would be ready for 4k @ 24 before the end of 2013, but I am still waiting.
I love the projector. Its is like a hotrod, something that I just love to constantly tweak. The only area I have wished for improvements was in contrast. With the addition of an aggressive internal aperture in the light engine's integrator rod we were able to get a decent bump from the stock contrast ratio. Recently, Alan was able to show me how to put an aperture in my lens to further obtain even better contrast. While I haven't permanently decided on what is the best aperture in both the integrator rod and lens, Alan seems to have found a perfect combination, and I'm going to try to match my setup closely to his. He is getting 4500:1 which is incredible. I would be happy with anything in the 3500-4500:1 range.
