This was my advice to someone considering JBL screen arrays YUCK!!!

I am planning on going the JBL Screen Array / Crown DSi route. I like the fact each channel of the amp has it's own EQ. And I like there SCS spatially cued surround, as I want to upgrade to Trinnov processor

I am hoping I can play this system 100db+ with total immersion.

Any comments would be helpful.

I agree with all except the extremely cretinous part which is only matched in its level of backwards perpetration by its equivalent in vulgarity for Home Cinema Design: Ad-hoc laid out prefabricated coffered ceilings, apparently specified with insufficient cultivation in the architectural arts and imposing a general lack of a timeless in aesthetic feel. Bennigan's anyone? Architectural Digest IS your friend.

If you are going to do such ceilings by all means copy those in a 20 M estate designed by truly famous architects, copy to your hearts content it's cheap, but otherwise cover the canopial blemish with acoustically transparent fabric. Well intended gratuitous artistic license renders these alien to anything belonging in a Brentwood estate or a Kensington Townhouse. Restraint S'il vous plaît restraint.

The Screen Array is another reason JBL systems pre CEDIA 2014 sound horribly harsh, case in point The Dolby Atmos room in Van Nuys wonderful 3d sound tightly packed about your head but harsh like the invitees from AVS surmised after their demo., consider instead investing on M2's, also explore the chance of deploying the JBL Synthesis amps they are equally easy to get, they may sound better, there may be subtle mods, but in any case the price is not far off, and will retain value better. Again Get the M2's, if you are not going to go Quested, and perhaps someone will intimate a class act intervention on the proponents of these awkwardly arranged ceiling  implements. Take it in a colleagueal tough love peer advice sense.

I was guilty of gaudy perpetrations Once and just Once. SEE ATLAS. So can others, Architectural Digest is your friend.

The acoustical treatment idea and its usefulness in deploying ceiling speakers for atmos is excellent, no qualms there, the first draft amateurish fit is the ppoint of further refinement, i look forward to seeing a beautiful coffered ceiling in the future.

Or if you are referring to the JBL arrays, they do not come up to the heels of the M2. That is not to say there is better speaQers but in the JBL line the M2's kill the Atlas.
