  • Dolby Atmos At Showeast-booth

I had a chance to look at the Dolby Surround Upmixer restrictions and features.

The microphone input (of zero interest to HT) has the ability for the booth boy to sound like God coming from the heavens.

Meanwhile digitalcinema 5.1 or 7.1 and Dolby True HD are all restricted to their original channel count (YAWN).

In my I am mad as hell and I wont take it any more post Showeast demeanor I am going to say it one more time, when you have invested thousands or hundreds of thousands in a 32 channel mega system that sounds better upmixed than what it does in the legacy format who gives a flying fuck about the directors intentions, who? Screw the directors intentions, whatever sounds best is what MATTERS.

here are samples of the upmixing restrictions, Ironically the only hope at the present here is to take an lpcm dts hd track and upmix it.

Quite frankly I am happy that the AURO will upmix everything, Atmos needs to stop being so stiff and stop brow-nosing to Hollywood Mythology through lazy feature omissions. Give better options.

And Dolby no longer excludes competitors signals from its upmixing is various digital audio format, all restrictions are removed immediately: https://www.dolby.com/us/en/about/po...ng-policy.html.

Products approved prior to january first 2021 can process Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD en Dolby Atmos in receivers, soundbars, TVs and such devices, using non-Dolby upmixers.

DTS owner Xperi complained to the European Commision about Dolby restricting the market, this mght have something to with this change in policy at Dolby.

Yes, but owners of Datasat are still screwed as they were the first to castrate and now i doubt they will spend time undoing the deed.
