Wolfgang Samsung published the picture above, if you click on the link the larger version does show some lines in the blue.

It is a technology demo, showing a second line of MicroLEDs by a different vendor Samsung has a large stake in. Anyway the BUZZZZ is still ringing;-),somission accomplished.

So how do your spies rate the new 98" 8Ks from Samsung and Sony?

My Client is meeting with Samsung VP in one hour. I will report.

Art with 20/20 glasses you cannot see the seams after 6-7 feet, unless damaged in transit.

My client will ask about the price, i can tell you that the price from this year to 2 years will drop dramatically.

Samsungs CES 75" (and 84"?) and other small modules demo, shows a different source of microLEDs these are considerably smaller than those used in The Wall. These reportedly still show some edges/seams. The more established The Wall seems to be no longer showing edges. Let's hear what Peter's client has to say after his meeting.

I presume Samsung will show The Wall in Amsterdam next month. Hopefully also the new PlayNitride LEDs based displays.

Just got off the phone with Ernst Stavro. The wall luxury is a 6 x 6 array in 219 inches. It is the same panel 3 inch deep as the wall professional but handles around 6 k of resolution with the scaler setop box, four hdmi 2.1 inputs, imax VAR movies via fandango, appletv built in amazon alexa and google home. The 143" is  60K more expensive in Luxury over Professional.

As to the evenness of the tiling, seems that problem is licked. I asked my client how far were you? A nose away. Much better than a year ago. we were able to spot it.

The 75" 300 mm Wall 2 .43 model won't be out for 2 years, but it should be less than half the price.

So the 146" is 400K plus tax if you want Alexa? So 60K and you don't even get Bixby;-)? But the voice assistants are the only difference between the regular and the luxury edition Or are there other benefits to warrant the premium?

Well if no seams are visible at 6' to7' that is what I want to hear but of course I heard no seams at arms length last year and that proved to be a total fabrication. ( not that I don't trust you Peter). I hate the fence there that just looks suspicious.  Reminds me of sideshows at carnivals when I was a kid the spider boy you couldn't get too close for your safety but in fact the mirror illusion would not work inside five feet.

Nope the guarantee by Samsung for production unit was at 2 meters or so, can't remember the exact distance, but clearly closer than the 3-4 meters we were restricted to last year and people with better eyes were complaining about seams and artifacts at that distance.

As mentioned by Mayer, they make it impossible to detect the panels at the show. They are showing specially mix content, very high IRE and always moving. They purposely avoid dark content, that is where you will see the panel border and video noise.

My position on viewing distance has been 6 feet, if you have a whacked panel during shipment those are awful but my client which is pretty well trained commented that today he was able to walk right up to the 143" and it looked much better, CLED at the sony booth  was bad in that the tiles are uneven, not perfectly flat so reflections going in every direction, so he said cled solution migh be limited to only in a black room.

                      No comparison.

Well judging by the video's from at least the Samsung pre-view event at CES, people were able to get pretty close to the new small module panels, with one Samsung employee adding and subtracting modules right in front of the camera, in one of the video's in this thread. There were a few squigly lines at the bottom of the added module.

And personally I see a hint of a grid pattern in the picture I posted a link to, the display under a sharp angle with the blue content.

At ISE Samsung showed very dark blue content, rendered stuff, very busy, to distract from seams and lines, personally they had to be pointed out to me, and then I still had a hard time to see them. Of course the ribbon holding me back did not help either. My simple still camera did not pick up on them either. Freeze frame sometimes helps, but not this time.

The Sony I have seen at several shows and the execution has varied, so one looked better than the others. Of course these are shwon i large rooms, halls even so less reflections, even when on a crowded booth. I have seen it hold up very well in an ambient light demo, so Sony can delivery I have no insight in how consistenly he can do this now after a few years of actual product.

Here is simply the way I look at it. If the panel margins are visible at my viewing distance I will be drawn to them forever. This may well be a flaw of my personality but it would be like a dead pixel (or ten) a stain on my projection screen ,poor projector panel alignment or anything else...once seen it can't be unseen.  This is asking a lot  and I hope they can pull it off. Saying ,well as long as you aren't watching flat fields or slow moving images or or … is a problem..at least for me.

I agree. And we have seen the displays improve over the past two and a half years since Sony first showed it. The Samsung The Wall reportedly is not showing this issue at CES, the prototype based on the PlayNitride sample unites is not there yet. But as Peter pointed out Samsung is not ready to sell it yet either, so it would be unwarranted to judge current result as if it was the final product for sale. So anyone in the market for Ssamsungs current 400K+ solution? If not there is plenty of time to wait and see;-).

Stewart film screen makes a screen that is placed in front of the video wall with perforations that match the pixel density hiding the panel border. I have never seen this in action but Peter reports it does not look so good. In theory, it sounds like a must-have.

If it looks like the thin line between bifocal reader lenses, what is the issue? Far worse is seeing the reflected light of a projector even in black velvet room. Directional Light rules.
