  • MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 7 - fitting a Barco series 4 where the old dp-1500 was.

The prometheus theater gets an upgrade catalyzed by a direct lighting strike!!

the old construction shop drawings did not include finished woodwork mouldings and casings that practically make removing the old projector a mission impossible much less inserting the new sp4k-15 in which is a full 4 inch deeper.

wall outside the room within a room will require surgery (in red) new proposed construction in green.

You can see the venerable lens iris that has taken a beating by heat but increased the original 4:500-1 superkontrast to 7,000-1. Only barco has the level of torus shaped screen masking(blanking) readily usable.

ignore the unistrut hanging mounting, a shelf will be designed-built for the projector to rest on. the projector needs to move forward by 2 inches, need to review the wall niche is tall enough to allow 2 inch insertion for free airflow.

Well the 1500 wouldn't fit the first time round, so no surprise an 4K laser projector does not fit without additional work.

It did fit back then when the walls were bare, but then all the millwork got piled unto the walls after projector was working.

Yesterday I called Mueller Alamo Drafthouse in Austin Texas who have a sp-4k projector running there for 2 weeks. I spoke with the technical manager, was doing a bit of due diligence regarding possible speckling which is a concern with this client, she new exactly what it is and reported zero speckling noted. Relief.

Is there a reason one can only open the corridor ceiling from the side next to the projector location? If one could open the ceiling at the projector location, one could just slide in the projector onto the tray. Turn up the bolts along the four threaded rods, and when at the correct height cut of the the rods, and close the ceiling.

This last option is the safest to the environ less strongman intensive method.

Your option or mine? turning an M12 (pipe) key/wrench doesn't require great strength, just strength of mind as it can be somewhat tedious.

mine, the place for the lift where no wood moulding intrudes is just there, we may use your suggestion to take out the old projector though. Wait for more drawings it will be clearer.

By the way this is the first time in history where a projection tight quarters insertion and access is analyzed via BIM.

The above platform was going to have issues with the feet falling through the holes and making install harder.

We are going with this platform.

A little drama from last month, a forklift was driven into the side where the lasers and light engine resdie at MIA airport. Today a much better packaged box arrived.
