  • CES: Hisense makes headway into US TV market with 4K HDR models 4K laser later

Hisense Reveals the Next Generation of Ultra LED Curved Technology, Brings HDR Processing to the Masses and Offers Unmatched Customer Service and Warranty Program. The latest iteration of ULED, presented in a technology demonstration at CES, will be even brighter and more colorful with a color gamut of 91.2 percent of Rec.2020 and 99.98 percent of the DCI-P3 color spaces and 1000nit peak brightness.

At 2016 International CES, Hisense, the multinational consumer technology manufacturer and one of the largest television brands in the world, elaborates on the Company’s plans for the U.S. market. Dedicated to continually pushing the envelope with innovative design, technology and value to the consumer, the number-three TV manufacturer globally is looking to achieve the same position within the U.S. with its groundbreaking, affordable, high-quality televisions.

Since introducing its first 4K model in 2013, Hisense has become the fastest growing 4K TV brand in the U.S.*, a testament to its dedication to R&D expansion, brand building efforts and nimble operations that ensure consistent value is provided to customers and retailers. In addition, Hisense offers an industry leading warranty program, with more coverage than any other brand.

“At Hisense, the customer is central to everything we do – from product concept through post-purchase experience and support,” said Jerry Liu, Chief Executive Officer of Hisense Americas. He added, “as an agile and modern brand, our global and local capabilities allow us to execute new technologies faster than competitors. We look forward to advancing our distinctive offering in the U.S. by bringing more TVs to market in 2016 than ever before, while continuing to provide our customers and retail partners with exceptional performance, choice and high-quality technologies at more attainable price points.”

Demonstrating this commitment to the U.S. TV market, Hisense today announced the addition of 22 new TV models for 2016, from 720p and 1080p to 4K and the next generation of the Company’s proprietary ULED™ technology. As exemplified by the H7 series in 2015, Hisense will expand the global 4K market in 2016 by making HDR processing accessible to the mass consumer with its H8 model. Hisense will also continue to expand its Roku TV line-up and deliver 1.07 billion colors for a seemingly infinite number of shades with its curved ULED technology.

    Better Pixels For More Colors

Hisense’s first generation ULED brought viewers blacker blacks and brighter colors with a curved screen that feels larger and creates a more immersive viewing experience. In 2016, Hisense will offer ULED technology and HDR processing in 55” (H9 Series) and feature a second generation ULED in the 65” (H10 Series) screen sizes, with more local dimming zones, quantum dot advanced color technology and the addition of streaming High Dynamic Range (HDR) content from Amazon.

Protected by 17 patents, ULED technology enhances color, contrast, black level, brightness and smooth motion with a combination of advanced hardware and software. The technology is up to three times brighter than OLED with better dynamic range and perception of black and white.

The latest iteration of ULED, presented in a technology demonstration at CES, will be even brighter and more colorful with a color gamut of 91.2 percent of Rec.2020 and 99.98 percent of the DCI-P3 color spaces and 1000nit peak brightness.

Both the H9 4K Curved Smart ULED Series and the H10 4K Curved Smart ULED Series with Quantum Dot advanced color technology will retail for less than $3,000. Pricing and additional information below.

    HDR for Everyone

Leading the industry, all Hisense 4K televisions will feature HDR processing, which is based on the UHD Alliance HDR specification; assuring the television is capable of displaying any subsequent HDR content providers may create. HDR Processing uses proprietary algorithms to remap luminance and color information to the capabilities of the display producing a picture with increased color accuracy and realism.

HDR processing will be available to more consumers than ever with the addition of the disruptively priced H8 series. An advancement of the brand’s extremely popular H7 series, the H8 series also features multi-zone Full Array Local Dimming, Peak Lumina™ Control. The H7 series will continue in 2016 as well. All Hisense 4K TVs use proprietary motion estimation and compensation (MEMC) algorithms, called UltraSmooth Motion™, to create and insert frames into the picture that enable smoother transitions for the viewer. In addition, UltraSmooth Motion incorporates two backlight technologies: blinking and scanning, which also contribute to smoother fast action images.

Hisense H7 4K Smart TV Series, with HDR processing and H8 4K Smart TV Series, with Full Array Local Dimming and HDR processing both retail for less than $1,500. Pricing and additional information below.

    Always Smart, Never Complicated

With Hisense’s proprietary Smart TV platform, retrieving and viewing content is simplified in 2016. Access to all of the best viewing apps like Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube; music streaming via Pandora; weather forecasts from AccuWeather; and social connectivity via Twitter enhance and complement the overall viewing experience, without complication.

With an easy-to-use and intuitive user interface that was developed exclusively for the U.S. market in Hisense’s R&D lab in Atlanta, GA, the continuous scrolling design enables the user to pass over live content and apps, as well as change inputs and adjust settings using the remote control.

Additional apps can be purchased via the Opera TV Store.

In 2016, Hisense will also expand its popular line-up of Hisense Roku TV™ models. Hisense Roku TVs are powered by the Roku® OS and include a simple, personalized home screen, 3,000+ streaming channels and powerful search and discovery features such as Roku Search and Roku Feed. Consumers can also use the Roku Mobile App for iOS and Android to view personal video, photos, or audio on their Hisense Roku TV using the Play on Roku feature, as well as search for their favorite entertainment using Voice Search.

The Hisense Roku TV H4 Series is expected to be available later this year in 32”, 40”, 48” and 50” sizes. Pricing and additional information below.

Hisense’s entire 2016 line-up of Smart TVs ranging from HD to ULED feature a dedicated Netflix button on the remote for easy access to the app. 4K Ultra HD models and ULED models will feature 4K Ultra HD Streaming (HEVC/h.265; VP9).

Hisense Emerges as Formidable Technology Innovator at International CES 2016, its goal to become the number three TV brand in the US. It showcases not just the ULED 4K TVs but a variety of innovative Display Applications Across Television, Connected Home and Medical Industries.

Hisense, the multinational consumer technology manufacturer and one of the largest television brands in the world took the stage at 2016 International CES to announce the Company’s largest foray into the U.S. market to date, and to demonstrate innovations in display technology across the television, connected home and medical industries.

Though global TV shipment has fallen 4.5 percent year-on-year, Hisense has successfully increased its global market share by 5.8 percent. Specifically, maintaining its position as the leading television brand in China for the past 12 years, and emerging as the number-two TV brand in South Africa and number-three TV brand in Australia* have catapulted Hisense to the number-three TV manufacturer position globally**.

This rapid growth is a credit to Hisense’s five percent annual investment in R&D, agile and adaptable approach to technological innovation and commitment to industry-leading customer service that ensures consistent value is provided to consumers.

“Hisense (in Chinese denoting ‘trustworthy’ and ‘open like the seas’) truly embodies the values of honesty and humbleness in our internal culture, and these values guide our interactions with our consumers, customers, partners and processes,” said Jerry Liu, Chief Executive Officer of Hisense Americas. “With our global and local R&D capabilities we are able to adapt and advance upon new technologies faster than competitors; providing consumers with exceptional, high-quality technologies at more affordable price points.”

Hisense further elaborated on its plans to achieve the number-three TV position in the U.S. over the next three years. Key to this growth are major sports sponsorships to increase brand awareness and equity, including NASCAR, and increased community involvement in locales. Hisense will also be expanding its U.S. based R&D teams, which already lead all Smart TV platform development for North America.

Breakthrough technologies from Hisense will continue to challenge and shape the consumer technology industry, including 4K Laser Cast, a panel less TV that has the potential to change the face of TV altogether; a connected smart home platform that brings Hisense innovations together under a central hub for the consumer; China’s first independently developed color TV graphics chip, Hi-View; and the company’s latest advancements in medical imaging display technology.

LASER CAST: CHANGING THE FACE OF TV

Intrigued by the changing content consumption experience consumers are demanding and an “on-the-go” lifestyle that was created by smartphones, Hisense has been exploring technology to change the face of TV viewing all together – with panel less TV. Without the cumbersome bulk of a panel, TV can be consumed anywhere.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THByI-txP1g

The Hisense Vidaa Max Laser TV, launched in 2014, first brought this technology to life.

Sitting only inches from a wall, Laser Cast is less like a TV and more like an in-home cinema marvel. Capable of projecting an image equivalent to a 100-inch HDTV with 40 percent less energy, the Laser Cast throws an astounding 2,500 lumens, and even with the lights on, is bright enough to show true color and rich contrasts. Wi-Fi capabilities and a color gamut that reaches 82 percent of the NTSC color standard the Laser Cast turn any room into a stunning theater.

Hisense announced that details around a 4K version of Laser Cast would be available in Q2 2016.

    CONNECTED HOME ECOSYSTEM

Smart Home by Hisense is a multi-faceted system enabling the home management of Hisense products, whenever and wherever.

Through wireless protocols like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee, it allows customization of household devices produced by Hisense, such as refrigerators, air conditioning and lights. Smart Home by Hisense also facilitates media sharing between the television, smart phones and tablets and includes security features to protect and monitor the home.

HI-VIEW PRO: CHINA’S FIRST INDEPENDENTLY DEVELOPED HDTV GRAPHICS CHIP

Hisense unveiled China’s first independently developed color TV chip, Hi-View, in 2005 and in 2015 announced the first Hisense smart television featuring the new Hi-View Pro chip. The innovation, which demonstrates Hisense’s display technology development capabilities, is the result of the industrial production of core electronic devices, high-end generic chips and basic software in China.

The latest version, the Hi-View Pro graphics engine (HS3700) significantly improves the dynamic range of the LCD TV screen as well as the dynamic contrast ratio, color gamut, definition and fluency of movement using multi-dozen autonomous algorithms. With 40 nm lithography, the processing chip results in extremely low energy consumption.

ADVANCEMENTS IN MEDICAL IMAGING DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY

Display technology goes beyond entertainment and advancements in graphic processing have the ability to save lives in the operating room. Hisense showcased a first-of-its-kind medical image processing system for biliary and pancreatic surgery that provides efficient, precise and compact 3D CT graph and surgery solutions to reduce surgery risk and bleeding.

The system is the first computer-assisted product that can be used for pediatric biliary and pancreatic surgery. Another innovative application of this technology is the use of the device as a 3D CT graph and printer – to directly and instantly print analysis results, with no data conversion necessary.

Hisense also creates a wide variety of color, grayscale and multimodality diagnostic displays that are used for diagnosis and consultation, clinical applications and endoscopic surgery. These monitors build on Hisense innovations to include excellent video quality with high megapixel resolution and peak bright; DICOM-compliant color and grayscale definition; wide viewing angles; multi-point touchscreens and high-energy efficiency.

Hisense will demonstrate the future of display technology in booth #8152 at the Las Vegas Convention Center during 2016 International CES.

Affordable HDR is here: Hisense unleashes its H8 series of televisions

Hisense's H8 series, which offers 4K, HDR, and multi-zone local dimming, is now available, as are a number of the other series in its 2016 lineup, which offers a wide variety of sizes and price points.

Earlier this year at CES, Hisense’s ULED H10 and H9 series TVs provided the wow factor, but the real star of the show might have been the company’s H8 series thanks to its combination of 4K, HDR, and a surprisingly affordable price point, considering the features. Initially slated to arrive in February, the series is now available.

The H8 series is available in 50-inchand 55-inch models, both of which offer multi-zone Full Array Local Dimming. The TVs play back HDR content in HDR10 format via both USB and the HDMI 2.0a input. The series also features smart TV features and built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

As with all new technologies, HDR initially came at a premium, but that is increasingly falling away. The 55-inch 55H8C has a retail price of $700, while the 50-inch 50H8C sells for $600.

The H8 isn’t the only series making its way to stores this month. Hisense’s H5 series is also available now, offering the company’s smart TV platform in sizes ranging from 32-inch to 55-inch, in either FHD or HD resolution, depending on size. The 55-inch 55H5C costs $500, the 50-inch 50H5C is $400, and the 43-inch 43H5C is $330, and all offer the company’s Ultra Smooth Motion feature, unlike the 40H5C and 32H5C, which sell for $280 and $200, respectively.

Hisense’s H4 of Roku TVs is also making its way to store shelves this month, offering more than 3,000 streaming channels and voice search via the Roku app for iOS and Android. There are four different models available, ranging from the 50-inch, 1080p 50H4C for $430 down to the 32-inch, 720p 32H4C, which sells for $200.

Finally, the company’s H3 line of feature TVs — meaning they don’t offer smart TV functionality — is finally fully available. While most of the line began shipping to stores in February, the 20-inch 20H3C finally made its way to stores starting last month.

All models mentioned here are available now nationwide, and come with a four-year warranty.
