  • ISE: Christie goes LASER Bright doubles output on new single chipper

Christie is launching the new HS series of single DLP chip HD/WUXGA Laser-Phosphor projectors. An extension to its Laser-Phosphor range started with the GS series launched last year. The GS series was also rebadged by French premium HT vendor Cineversum, so we may see the HS pop-up in either Cineversum, or Christie's own HT product offering.

In the spec. sheet for the D12HD-HS 11K lumens HD and D12WU-HS 12K Lumens WUXGA we see the return of the native on-off contrast figure of 1200:1, that was initially provided for the GS series, but was later replaced by only a dynamic contrast figure following the introduction of laser modulation.

The new HS series projectors doubles its output compared to the GS series making use of one of the key benefits of LASER and LASER-Phosphor light sources, high output.

And here's the original announcement. Indeed: "Big power in a small package". Smaller than last year's single chip brightness king the dual lamp Vivitek DU 9000, that offers 12000 center lumens for around 15000€ (list).

So how fast would that 3x color wheel be, as it combines a phosphor wheel followed by a 3x color wheel?!!! As by itself 3X is bound to lead to the dreaded 'Rain Bow Effect'.

And how good is that color technology, is this judged from a video perspective, or from a spreadsheet beamer perspective...

Big power in a small package: Christie HS Series sets new benchmark for 1DLP
laser phosphor, delivering up to 12,000 lumens and High Definition
Wokingham, UK. – (January 18, 2016) – Christie® has set another industry benchmark with
today’s launch of the world’s brightest 1DLP® laser phosphor projector: the Christie HS Series
which is not only the world’s first 12,000 Lumen 1DLP laser phosphor projector but it also
brings the industry amazing colour balance with a new proprietary solution, BoldColor
    Technology.

Featuring ‘BoldColor Technology’ for richer, more vivid colors, and a 3X color wheel speed, the
Christie D12HD-HS and Christie D12WU-HS respectively deliver HD and WUXGA resolution in a
compact chassis that is the quietest 10,000+ lumens laser phosphor projector on the market.

Christie has developed BoldColor Technology that – through a combination of laser light source,
optics, software – enables the HS Series produce excellent colours with exceptional colour
balance. Building on the versatility of the H Series launched last year, the laser-phosphor HS
Series is also extremely small, low profile, light and extremely quiet (a mere 40db). It’s a
package that makes the HS Series not just the most flexible 1DLP laser phosphor projector but
brings the industry by far the most affordable laser phosphor projector at this brightness level.

Perfect for those needing bright and rich images including rental stagers, corporations, hotels,
public spaces, and entertainment venues, the Christie HS Series is capable of 360-degree
orientation and portrait mode with color matching and advanced blending, warping and
stacking software built in, making it extremely flexible. The Christie HS Series also offers a full
(six) lens suite covering 0.84:1 up to 7.2:1, 3GSDI and DVI-D loop through connections so
signals can be daisy chained without external boxes, and optional fog filters.

As Curtis Lingard, product manager points out, “The HS Series is not just more affordable but
considerably more affordable than other solid state options in the market. So on top of the
long-term cost savings on maintenance with laser phosphor, we have here significant up-front
savings if you need 12,000L brightness with low maintenance. The flexibility and low noise spec
have also been very popular with clients,” he continued, “I’ve had a lot of interest from higher
education for larger classrooms, as well as corporate training, and location-based
entertainment where demanding high usage without frequent bulb maintenance is
appreciated. Houses of worship, where hard-to-get-to spaces such as a vaulted ceilings are
quite common, also benefit from the HS Series with bright bold images with no need to keep
accessing the projector to change lamps after the initial installation.” As for the image, “I can
easily say that the HS produces the best color performance I have ever seen from a high
    brightness 1DLP projector,” he concludes.

“Christie is excited to be offering the world’s brightest 1DLP laser phosphor projector,” said
Curtis Lingard, product manager, Christie. “Featuring Christie Bold Color Technology, we are
able to achieve colors never seen before on a 1DLP projector. The silent and low-profile design
allows the HS Series projectors to work unnoticed while everyone’s attention is exactly where
you want it - on the stunning images.”
