  • IFA: JVC to unveil its first 4K LASER-Phosphor Home Theater projector

JVC will show a pre-production unit of its first native 4K projector in years. In the past years JVC abandonned native 8K DILA LCoS Panels for 4K panels with e-shift in a 'compact digital cinema projector', and added e-shift to native 4K imager based simulation projectors, but in hometheater JVC limited itself to HD panels with e-shift that adds additional pixels on screen by off-setting a second image by a quarter pixel diagonally.

Now it is finally ready to announce a native 4K hometheater unit, at IFA Berlin 2-7 September and CEDIA in Dallas next October. The unit reportedly is pitched against the Sony VW1100 with an expected price of €22000, but sofar there is no word from JVC as to prizing. The current Blu-Escent projectors cster to the simulation markets and are generally priced higher. It is expected to feature P3 color gamut, and like its existing line of HT projectors will be HDR capable. Rumors have touted a 4000 lumens maximum light output, but that might be optimistic, and will definitely less in wider gamut.
