Sony will show off the enhanced HDR and 4K production capabilities of its newly updated BVM-X300 OLED reference monitor. New hardware consists of an updated inputmodule with a second 3G HD-SDI input, aswell as an HDMI input, HDMI currently not supported on existing X300s. The new firmware will add support for additional EOTFs. NHK/BBC's Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), in addition to SMPTE 2084's PQ EOTF to support the ITU's new BT.2100 HDR recommendation. S-LOG 3 camera EOTF for live camera monitoring. It also adds relative contrast modes instead of HDRs absolute curves to allow for the display of HDR images with higher peak luminance than the Sony OLED can offer.
The new firmware and hardware will be featured on units shipped from October onwards. The firmware will be available as a free download howeever Sony does charge for replacing software and hardware of the new inputmodule for those owners that wish to upgrade their current monitor.
