Turkcell opens its 4K Funbox

Turkish IPTV provider, and the country's largest mobile operator TurkCell has launched its 4K service with Sony Pictures International Television's Funbox 4K. It also added five HD VOD channels to its line-up.

Turkcell TV+ has recently introduced a 4K set-top box and started broadcasting FUNBOX 4K/UHD, being  the first IPTV platform broadcasting Ultra HD channels in Turkey.

According to Sony 'FUNBOX 4K/UHD is a state of the art premium entertainment channel offering an amazing collection of native 4K programming which lets viewers enjoy documentaries on nature, lifestyle, performing arts and many more in breathtaking Ultra HD resolution'.



“We are glad to extend our previous offer, which included FightBox HD, FashionBox HD and DocuBox HD with additional five channels from the SPI/FILMBOX worldwide portfolio,” said Murat Muratoglu, SPI’s Sales Director for Turkey and the Middle East. “Both movie channels FilmBox Turkey and FilmBox Art House have Turkish subtitles while Fast&FunBox has been dubbed in Turkish in order to deliver the best watching experience for our viewers in Turkey,” explained Mr. Muratoglu. Adding: “In order to satisfy Turkcell’s subscribers’ appetite for new technologies we have added to the new line-up FUNBOX 4K/UHD. Our first Ultra HD channel allows viewers to experience more nuance and detail, faster frame rates, contrast dynamics and extended colors".

Turkcell’s subscribers have now access to FilmBox Turkey – a movie channel presenting a variety of international blockbusters and popular TV series.  Fans of world cinema may enjoy classic works by such renowned filmmakers as Fellini, Kurosawa, Hitchcock, in addition to an impressive selection of independent productions and festival films showcased on FilmBox Art House. Fast&FunBox HD presents a wide range of adventure and extreme sports (sailing, motorcross, skydiving, skiing, car racing, skateboarding, snowboarding and more). The extended line-up also includes 360TuneBox HD, an international music channel showcasing independent music artists from all over the world and intriguing music videos from the most creative producers.

Türksat/Kablo TV, the largest cable operator in Turkey, has added FUNBOX UHD, an entertainment channel in 4K to its line up. It is joined by seven Sony Pictures International HD channels and the FilmBox Live VoD service.

The channel line-up picked up by Türksat includes: FUNBOX UHD (an entertainment channel in Ultra HD), FilmBox Turkey and FilmBox Art House (movie channels), FightBox and Fast&FunBox (sports channels), DocuBox (a documentary channel), 360 TuneBox (a music channel) and Gametoon (an interactive gaming channel). All channels are currently being localized in Turkish.
