  • IBC: Novel SAT to IP with decryption

Israel's NovelSat, is launching its new NovelSat NS200X Multi-Rx DVB-S2-to-IP Channel Satellite Demodulator, at IBC (stand 3B26, September 9-13). The NovelSat NS200X is designed to meet the needs of satellite broadcasters and head-ends of all sizes. With up to 3 plug-in modules, it can contain up to 24 demodulators in a single 1U box. NS200X units can also be concatenated to support many more additional DVB-S2-to-IP streams.

The NS200X can also scale to support up to 12 IP-to-IP Conditional Access Modules (CAMs), to descramble multiple encrypted TV channels.

Though aimed at Satellite broadcasters, this should also allow the conversion of 4K satellite transmissions to IP networks, for integrated distribution to a large number of rooms on an existing IP network. The large number of supported CAMs allows for more than the handful of simulteneous channels/users consumer grade performance offered by initiatives like SAT>IP.

As it is a demodulator IP encapsulator the unit is content agnostic relaying MPEG transport streams as transmittedd, decoding is therefore handled at the display side, so SD, HD, 4K should all work.

This is the second unit to perform this function, following the Tecsys, also from Israel, 8300 mediaconverter.

In addition, the NS200X offers signal conversion modules to support multiple output signals such as: COFDM, PAL/NTSC and QAM.
