  • CEDIA: TI XPR 4K DLP Projectors

As explained by TI at ISE this February, this combination of a new 0.67" 4.15 million pixel DMD, image processing, and optical actuator is Texas Instruments answer to the current crop more affordable 4K projection and flat panel displays.

More affordable than DLP projectors based on TIs 1.38" 4K DMD that is, as at CEDIA there were the pricey options by DPI, upto $45K for a 3 DMD version, and the upcoming Sim2 Nero 4. Barco did show, but not demo, its $60K MSRP Loki projector that uses the TI XPR optical actuator technology, but combines this with a regular 0.9" WQUXGA DMD and Barco's own image processing, based on the [urlhttp://dci-forum.com/index.php?topic=607]F-90 platform[/url] launched at ISE.

Vivitek the brand of Delta electronics, one of the largest projector OEM/ODMs, and also a major shareholder of DPI, should be more representative of the consumer type Hometheater projectors, we saw from Optoma and BenQ at ISE in Amsterdam. And Optoma first showed at CES. And complimented with an UST version at Infocomm this summer. However at CEDIA it showed an 7000 lumens laser-phosphor unit from its commercial range, showing Vivitek's move up market in the medium and large venue market..

Acer also announced it will launch an XPR 4K DLP projector next year.
