  • JVC PSA CONTROL SOFTWARE

    All,

I know this is a long shot but does anyone possibly have a copy of the older "JVC PSA Control" calibration software?  This software was used to perform adjustment on such projectors as the JVC DLA-SH4K, DLA-SH7NLG, and other high-end commercial JVC projectors.

    Thank you

    Andre

Hello fraza, the JVC DLA-SH4K is a very good projector even to this day. I know several owners who still use this machine. Are you feeding it 4k? Were you ever able to feed 4k via DVI to your unit.

Regarding the control software I do not know anyone using this software, my contacts at JVC are saying it is no longer available.

      Mr Pixels,

I just acquired a Meridian 810 from a  Audiogon member who had it on consignment at a high end audio store for about two years so I was able to get it for I consider a very good price.  The Meridian 810 is based on the JVC DLA-SH4K.  All the Meridian 810 were sent to William Phelps back in the day for an advance calibration which he performed using his privately developed methods and equipment.  I've reached out to Mr. Phelps via a third party AVSForum member who knows him to see if he can either provide me with the PSA Tools software or sale me a copy of the program he developed back in the day for performing Shading and Gamma calibration on DLA projectors of that era.

The lamp for Meridian 810 are priced in the stratosphere but it will used as a secondary projector for movies only.  I have another projector for cable TV, internet surfing, NETFLIX and thing like that.

I have not taken delivery of the projector as of yet because I'm away from home on a project and will not be home until Jan 2019 when I will take delivery of it.  I'm very excited to see this projector in action because there are some very positive reviews along with a few negative comments out in net land.  I've been searching high and low to see if there is a more advance 4096 x 2400 multi DVI-D video processor with HDCP then the original one which came with the projector just to see if I can squeeze even better quality picture out of those 1.27" LCOS panels.

I've always loved playing with the older DLP, LCD, LCOS projectors because of there larger DMD/Panels which I find give a superior picture over the smaller newer DMD/Panels.  There is just more depth and solidness to the overall picture quality.  I have two 2K projectors, one DLP and one LCD with 1.66" panels and I love the picture they throw even though they are huge.    You have to be willing to deal with the larger size, louder dbs, and heat, which I don't mind since I started with a Barco 808 among other CRT projectors back in 1999.  I still consider a 130 lbs projector to be lite.

By chance could you ask your contacts at JVC if they use a different program to perform Shading and Gamma calibration on the JVC DLA-SH4K projectors.  Also any chance you could put me in touch with those folks you know who own either the JVC DLA-SH4K or Meridian 810.  I would like to see if they found a reasonable source for replacement lamps and if they are using the new 4K  Players to feed there projectors.
