Expansion to the Barco sponsored technology showcase theater. Remarkably this is only the first RGB projector (or 'Flagship' projector as Barco refers to them) in the multiplex. More or less the first year Barco therefor has been promoting LASER-Phosphor projectors. Those can not use frequency off-set 3D, so would have to use a different system like that by RealD.

RGB RGB or 6P(rimaries) LASER projectors can uses frequency filtering instead of polarisation filtering 3D, however it seems the Barco's can not take two different video signals to and throught the projector to offer frequency off-set left right image 3D using the single projector.

Add the new RealD super micro perforated screen that has great speckle reduction capabilities, amongst other strenghts and this tie up makes perfect sense.

RealD is expanding beyond 3D technology to offer movie-goers a complete cinema experience. The RealD Ultimate Screen has been ten years in the making and through extensive research and development offers a revolutionary, highly sophisticated, scientifically engineered matte-white screen that delivers incredible images in both 2D and 3D formats. The image is 85 percent brighter and the stereo contrast is 10 times better than that found on a traditional silver screen. With minimal surface texture, images are sharper, clearer, have truer colors and are more pristine.
