  • Barco brings much-wanted compact high-brightness projectors to rental and AV ins

In its communication Barco stresses that the UDX series has been designed to offer Xenon color. The traditional limit in blu-laser-phosphor projectors is Rec. 709  color space. The UDX series Laser-Phosphor illumination is said to improve upon this, allowing P3 color space.

Rentex, one of the largest providers of audio visual & computer rentals, announced that Barco’s latest 4K large-venue projector, the UDX-4K32, is now available for rent from the company’s nine locations nationwide. "We’re confident this is going to be a huge hit with our customers and the greater rental community".

The Barco UDX-4K32 is the flagship of the company’s UDX laser projector platform. It provides 31,000 lumens of light output, 4K resolution, and the specifications and performance of a high-end laser projection in a compact, easily-transportable chassis.

Launched on March 30th of 2017, but the 4K32 being the first to start shipping last month, with the rest of range available from November, the Barco UDX series is designed to deliver the same image quality found in the Barco HDX and HDF series in a more reliable, more flexible digital projector. By placing the specifications of a high-end laser projector into a compact form that is ideal for both transportation and complex rigging, Barco has created a projector suited for customers in both the large-venue fixed installation and the high-end projector rental markets.

Per Rob Garvey, Director of Sales, says; “Laser projectors are a major leap forward for the industry both in terms of image quality and usability. The Barco UDX-4K32 is at the cutting edge of laser technology, and offering it to our customers is an important part of our commitment to keeping them at the forefront of industry trends. It provides excellent color quality, outperforming industry standards like BT.709, and it accomplishes this in a very durable package. Basically, it doesn’t require AV engineers to make any compromises. We’re confident this is going to be a huge hit with our customers and the greater rental community.”

Inside the projector, the Barco UDX-4K32 employs a premium 3-Chip DLP design, the industry standard for high-end digital projection technology. This enables the projector to produce over 35 trillion colors with a solidity, density, and brightness unattainable by previous projection technologies. Due to the energy efficiency of laser light source, the UDX-4K32 can provide vivid and bright projections while consuming much less energy than projectors using bulb or LCD projection technology. The projector’s filter-free design also makes it less susceptible to dust and environmental conditions, meaning that it can thrive in complex rigging setups where performance and durability are both required.

Besides the obvious advantage of its compact size and outstanding color quality, the UDK-4K32 also has a series of very attractive technical specifications that makes it very competitive with other high-end laser projectors. At the core of the UDX-4K32 is Barco’s Pulse technology, a 4K electronics backbone that’s now integrated into all the company’s new projection platforms. Pulse provides Single Step Processing (SSP) for the UDX-4K32, enabling it to achieve 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) image processing—including warp, blend, gamma, and color—in a single operation. This faster image processing provides less latency and less dark time than other laser projectors on the market.

Other useful features of the UDX-4K32 include Barco’s FLEX technology, which allows users to customize and “lock in” the brightness and resolution of the projector to best suit each application, so engineers and technicians can use fewer projectors to cover a wider range of brightness levels and resolutions. Also, the UDK-4K32 is backwards compatible with the entire Barco lens fleet, including lenses developed for the HDX, HDF, and HDQ series projectors, providing a variety of options for engineers.

Rentex is proud to offer the Barco UDK-4K32 laser projector to its customers nationwide from all its nine convenient locations around the country.
