IBC the international broadcast show that is celebrating its fiftieth edition this year is also home to the Big Screen Experience. A four day conference track, accessible to all IBC (Exhibition) visitors for free. The Big Screen is hosted in the Amsterdam Rai Convention Center's large 1500 seat auditorium. For IBC the auditorium is designed to its specifications with the latest Dolby Vision dramatic imaging and Dolby Atmos immersive audio sound installation. No details as to how the big hall is outfitted this year is provided sofar, but last year the room's state-of-the-art audio and video set-up consisted of this.
The Big Screen Experience also offers a Saturday Night at the Movies, as well as a Monday Night Movie. The movie to be shown on Monday is yet to be announced, as is the Monday morning Cinema Keynote speaker. Announcement of the keynote and possibly associated movie, should be forthcoming, as the conference and trade show runs from September 14 through 19,and the Big Screen experience the 15th through monday the 18th.
However on Saturday it will be screening the Edgar Wright action comedy Baby Driver. Released in June, the film stars Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. Upon release, the film received critical acclaim and has grossed $166 million worldwide against a production budget of $34 million, becoming Wright's highest-grossing film as a director. The movie will be screenend in Dolby Vision and Atmos.

In alternative content BT Sports will tell of its experiments offering live HDR Football, in this case not only to homes, but also to an HDR and Immersive Sound equipped Cinema Screening Room, in Friday's session Event Cinema on Steroids: Shooting and delivering HDR and immersive audio alternative content to the Big Screen. Including some segments shown in the Dolby Vision and Atmos equiped auditorium.

In "Direct View Displays: Is this the end of projectors?" the two major players in Commercial Cinema Direct View Displays Samsung and Sony are joined by the CTO of LED Display manufacturer Nanolumens. Both Samsung and Sony are sending their Business Development and Sales people for the Direct View Cinema businessline. Signaling where the technology and product are at. The initial commercial stage.
