And the full release below. Interesting the Ang Lee demo set-up is no longer in use, as it is shipped to China to sit pretty in the Christie exhibit. Of course without the large and heavy laser racks it is just a pair of xenon dci-sized boxes and some pieces of pipe to stack them. So, this time it doesn't 'cost as much as a house' to fly it in.

Apparantly there are multiple ways to configure the laser sources, as they are specced at either 5000 or 4500 lumens each. 2x12x5K is the 120 K lumens mentioned below. But last year the demo laser sources were specced at only 4500, the difference is 'based on configuration'. Remarkably the pair of laser-fiber-fed Mirages ran on nine laser sources not even full on 36K lumens if I remember correctly, so very comparable to the single Xenon DCI projector Christie had sitting along for general projection during the IBC 2016 conference. But showing 120 frames per second 4K from each projector, 3D.

As for the image processing, Christie ran all or most of the IBC imagery, representatives where particularly proud of their real time rendering of the analog clock shown on all the signs across the 14 halls and conference center. Each line of the moving hands being re-drawn every second.

Big question is what contrast ration is the pure RGB projector offering, no more references to the >5000:1 like in last year's announcements.

The Christie booth at #2A233 is conducting regular live demonstrations of the next-generation direct-coupled RGB pure laser cinema projector that features an all-in-one design which eliminates the current need for sub-ambient cooling. Known as the Christie CP4325-RGB, it delivers significantly higher efficiency than lasers utilized in current cinemas. Visitors can enjoy bright and vibrant visuals of the CP4325-RGB in a custom-built internal theater at the booth, which also features the innovative Christie Vive Audio™ solution, offering rich, dynamic and detailed sound to complete the cinematic experience.

Also on show is a static display of the Christie Mirage 4KLH RGB pure laser projection system that wowed numerous audiences last year when it was used exclusively to screen Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk in stunning 4K, 3D, 120 fps, and 28fL. Featuring Christie TruLife™ electronics platform with an industry-leading video-processing pipeline of up to 1.2 Gigapixels per second, the Mirage 4KLH can produce up to 60,000 lumens per head, with potentially up to 120,000 lumens when two projection heads and two sets of RGB laser light sources are used (i.e., in a dual 6-Primary configuration).
