Following last year's success providing an IP Interoperability Zone, for vendors to both exhibit their IP production workflow gear, and get together in a real-life production environement that also saw use producing the daily IBC TV show.
This year more than 50 vendors will work together to demonstrate real-world IP interoperability based on SMPTE ST 2110 final draft standards and AMWA NMOS specifications, in the IP Showcase. A single set of common IP interop standards and specifications that are unleashing the full potential of IP in real-time media. To prove ease of use as well as interoperability, the demonstrations are divided into logical application pods, live production signal flows, contribution and playout signal flows, etc.. All shown under the control of familiar user interfaces.
The showcase is presented by AIMS in partnership with AES, AMWA, EBU, IABM, IBC, MNA, SMPTE, and VSF. "The IP Showcase is a one-stop destination where everyone from broadcast/IT engineers and CEOs to TV producers can learn everything they need to know to unlock the full potential of using IP for real-time media. In addition to an area for illustrating general SMPTE ST 2110 interoperability as in the past, there will also be three new areas: a live production area showcasing a working live production system based on SMPTE ST 2110, a playout area featuring a working playout and contribution system based on SMPTE ST 2110, and an AMWA Connection Management area to demonstrate progress toward a new connection-management specification, IS-05, which will be complementary to the IS-04 registration and discovery specification.
According to IBC the IP Showcase is dedicated to educating and energising IBC visitors to embrace the change, plan effectively, and ultimately build a more flexible, more efficient and more creative broadcasting industry, with no direct sales agenda.
“IBC is excited to be working with our IP Showcase Partners once again at IBC2017,” said Michael Crimp, CEO, IBC. “The IP Showcase will be an ideal opportunity for our visitors to see how far the IP Interop standard has come since its original demonstration at IBC2016. They will also be able to learn from those who have already adopted IP as the norm”.
The IP Showcase is located in conference room E.106 and 107. Here you'll find the real-time live interoperable production, contribution and play-out system, as well as the IP Showcase Theater, that hosts an extensive programme of presentations in. The five day programme is filled to the brim with presentations to inform on IP, the benefits of IP, Cyber Security, and of course technical sessions.
