IMAX And Cosmic Picture To Release IMAX Documentary Superpower Dogs, Presented By Mars Petcare
Latest Project from IMAX® Original Film Fund Documents the Inspiring Adventures of Heroic Dogs; To Debut Exclusively in IMAX® Theatres Starting Spring 2019

Today at the GSCA 2018 Film Expo, IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX), Cosmic Picture and Mars Petcare announced that the IMAX documentary family adventure, Superpower Dogs™, will be released in IMAX® theatres starting spring 2019. From the filmmakers behind the acclaimed documentaries Jerusalem and Journey to Mecca, Superpower Dogs™ takes audiences on an entertaining and educational journey about extraordinary dogs that fight crime and save lives. Captured using IMAX® cameras, the film is the next title to be released under the IMAX Original Film Fund.

Superpower Dogs™, from Writer/Director Daniel Ferguson and Producers Taran Davies, George Duffield and Dominic Cunningham-Reid, follows five real-life canine superheroes and their human partners as they brave earthquakes and avalanches, bring animal poachers to justice and protect humans from danger while lifting their spirits. Audiences will discover the amazing abilities of different breeds and the remarkable ways in which humans are harnessing their cognitive, sensory and intuitive superpowers.

"Cosmic Picture films have taken IMAX audiences on unforgettable adventures of discovery that have enlightened and educated moviegoers by showcasing vibrant cultures and the strength of human perseverance," said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. "These award-winning filmmakers now bring their talent and vision to a story that captures the heroic accomplishments of search and rescue, therapy and wildlife protection dogs in a way that has never been done before. We are delighted to be a part of Superpower Dogs, which will deepen our appreciation for these remarkable and loveable animals."

"Dogs have been saving and helping humans for tens of thousands of years, but many of their achievements and abilities are little known," said Taran Davies, CEO of Cosmic Picture. "We hope to deepen people's appreciation for these remarkable animals and to celebrate the profound bond between humans and dogs, the most successful inter-species partnership in history."

Superpower Dogs™ will be captured using IMAX cameras and will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique immersive environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

In support of its institutional theatre network, the IMAX Original Film Fund finances large-format educational documentaries that push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking for a new generation of moviegoers.  Launched in 2014, the $50 million Fund co-financed 2017's Voyage of Time and upcoming giant screen documentaries Pandas, Superpower Dogs™, and Asteroid Impact.

Earlier this year, Mars Petcare, the world's leading pet nutrition and health care business, agreed to serve as the presenting sponsor of Superpower Dogs™. The company is currently developing a robust integration and marketing plan for the film that will be supported by several of its iconic brands.

"Mars Petcare is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Superpower Dogs. We believe that pets make our lives better and we're confident the film will illustrate the remarkable impact dogs have on our lives," said Poul Weihrauch, Global President of Mars Petcare.

With IMAX announcing the start of production of a new documentary about SuperDogs, it says the documentary Pandas will open next month. The new IMAX 3D Documentary "Pandas" will open on April 6, 2018 at The California Science Center.

In the latest original IMAX 3D film, Pandas , a heartwarming story about reintroducing captive-born pandas to the wild, is narrated by Kristen Bell (Frozen, TV's "The Good Place"), and will premiere at the California Science Center on April 6, 2018.

At Chengdu Panda Base in China, scientists are taking the captive breeding program to the next level and preparing captive-born cubs for the wild.  This film follows one such researcher, whose passion leads her to initiate a new technique inspired by a black bear rehabilitator in rural New Hampshire.  What starts as a cross-cultural collaboration becomes a life-changing journey for one special panda named Qian Qian.

The film, captured with IMAX cameras, follows Qian Qian on an exciting new adventure into the mountains of Sichuan as she experiences nature for the first time and discovers her wild side.

"I am thrilled to team up with IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures to help tell this incredible story in the larger-than-life IMAX format," said Kristen Bell. "Pandas not only spotlights the important work being done to protect these beloved and ridiculously cute animals, but it provides us with inspiration and hope and showcases the great things we can achieve when we work together."

"We are happy to give our guests this opportunity to learn about conservation efforts through a look at this wonderful species," said Jeff Rudolph, California Science Center President and CEO. "Watching the film and visiting our Ecosystems Gallery will provide our guests with the knowledge and inspiration to help take better care of the animals around us and the habitats they live in."

The film is brought to life by the same filmmakers from the acclaimed IMAX documentaries Born to Be Wild and Island of Lemurs: Madagascar. With David Douglas directing and serving as director of photography, and Drew Fellman as writer and producer, audiences are taken on an exciting and educational new journey. Donald Kushner and Steve Ransohoff also produced the film, with Li Xiao Dong, David Haring, and Elie Samaha executive producing and Neal Allen serving as line producer. Born to be Wild and Island of Lemurs: Madagascar editor Beth Spiegel and composer Mark Mothersbaugh collaborated with Douglas and Fellman once again, with sound design by Gus Koven.

IMAX Entertainment presents, in association with IMAX Documentary Films Capital, Jin Yi Culture Investment (HK) and Panda Productions, Pandas.  This film, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX, will be released in select IMAX and IMAX 3D theatres starting April 6, 2018.
