    Sharp first announced its 8K TV in August at IFA, among three other venues, With the Chinese shipping date set for September, that became October, the Japanese launch was in December as announced, the Taiwan launch was also on schedule in February. The March Euro launch was pushed back to the end of this month. The availability announced at the IFA Global event.

    The price has gone up by fifty percent since since IFA, when the comoany said it would be €8K.



    Sharp is still the first vendor shipping an 8K TV. But other major (Chinese) display makers also said to make 8K TVs available this year.

    The TV shows signs of being an early market entry. For instance 8K needs to be fed over quad-HDMI 2.0, no HDMI 2.1 yet. Via USB it only accepts 4K video, and 8K stills. It even sports a Sub-D 'VGA' connector that Sharp says supports 2K video the TV upconverts to 8K. As for High Dynamic Range the LV-70X500E supports HLG and HDR10. Its gamut is said to be 86% of Rec. 2020, and 79% of CIE1931xy.

    Peak brightness, is specified at 1000 nits. The TV has a direct backlight with 216 zones of local dimming. The TV weighs 45Kg. Power consumption is specified at 470W.

    At NAB its commercial display division also focussed on an 8K eco system
