  • Cinemeccanica shows new STREAMER and smaller LUX RGB Laser sources at Cine

At CineEurope in Barcelona, Spain, 12-14 June, 2018, Italian Cinema projection and exhibition technology vendor Cinemeccanica, will be showing the latest in its range of RGB laser sourced for current, lamp based, Barco, Christie and NEC Digital Cinema projectors. The LUX 6A-8K/12K/18K/24K, RGB laser sources are specifically designed for small and medium size screens. The new models compliment Cinemeccanica existing LUX line up offering up to 56K lumens.

Cinemeccanica will also be demonstrating STREAMER. The advanced Theatre Management System (TMS) is said to improve the performances in cinemas by streaming the contents (DCI and not DCI) in real-time: no more waste of time to move contents in the screens. STREAMER has a special feature, an user friendly touch screen inside the auditorium for managing the private, hired and dine-in cinemas, from the room.

Till recently a DCP (Digitial Cinema Package, i.e. the movie) had to be loaded onto the secure server locked to an indivial projector the release code locked to a specific projector ID. With STREAMER Cinemeccanica offer centralised storage and play-out. The inference is that Digital Cinema initiative DCi modified its rules to allow for central storage and play-out to a collection of projectors, as GDC announced a (series of) product(s) with such a function at US trade Show Cinemacon recently.

According to Cinemeccanica's Commercial Director Pier Carlo Ottoni, the company's STREAMER product offers centralised storage, with the DCP being streamed to the Integrated Media Block server in the projector or projectors. As long as the operator has the appropriate Key Delivery Message(s).
