  • Sony receives DCi approval for its Crystal LED display

DCi has added the test report for the Sony CLDC-11 Crystal LED Display, (does the final C stand for Cinema...). The tested product is 5.1 m wide by 2.7 m high. It is made up of 78 ZRD-2 display modules. Two ZRCT-100 Display Controllers. Secure Processing Box XCT-Z11, Projector Secure Silicon Module CPU-450, and the SPB1 (Granada) Media Block. The Forensic Marking Solution is the Nexguard Watermarking.

At IBC, last month, we were told by Sony's European Cinema representative that Sony was expecting to receive approval in a month's time. Indicating it was interested in entering the Exhibition market. Currently the CrystalLED displays are simply too expensive for commercial cinema's, so Sony is taking a considered approach trying to convince creatives of the benefits of its Micro-LED display technology in their creative expression.

Analyzing the residential custom installation industry, O’Connor states that one of the challenges of bringing the Crystal LED product line to the residential market is the level of post-sale support that integrators require.<\q>

Kevin O'Connor, director of sales & marketing, visual simulation and entertainment, Sony Professional told CEPro

You guy were too much of a hassle, so Sony first focussed on easier to address verticals, but is now ready to take your questions.Still unclear to what extend they can take your orders "we were frank [with integrators]".

We’ve started to get inquiries from that side of the market,” says O'Connor. <\q>

Uhm you got inquiries two years ago, and one year ago..., not only just now;-).
