During its European Forum in Portugal Samsung has presented its complete 2019 TV line up. Extending the 2018 Q900R line of 8K TVs with an 98" version. At the event Samsung also announced the 2019 Q950R second generation 8K QLEDs in the same range of sizes, 65"-98". The Q950R range will use new wide viewing angle panels. The same wide angle panel technology is also used in the new Q80, and Q90 range of 4K QLED TVs. The Q900 8K range does not offer wide angle panels, but still is using a high zone count FALD backlight.
The Q950R will sport an HDMI 2.1 input that takes 8K@60P.
The Q900 Series 8K TVs continue to use Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Processor 8K, which upscales lower resolution content to crisp 8K. New for this year is that the 4K QLEDs feature their own proprietary Quantum Processor 4K.
The QLED 4K Q90/85/80/70/60R will be available in 43" to 82 inch.
No prices or availability information is provided. The available for pre-order on Samsung.com statement in the US announcement is incorrect, as that page to date only lists 2018 models.
Samsung PR has yet to respond to my request for specifications and availaibilty information on the 98" QLED Digital Signage display shown at ISE in Amsterdam last week. The limited specifications provided in the on-wall label; 500 nits average brightnes, 4000 nits peak brightness, AI upscaling, make is sound like the 9*"QLED monitor and Q900R TV are very similar, at least the hardware used.
