Atlona is the latest entrant into the real 4K Ultra HD business with new HDBaseT matrix switchers that handle 60 frames per second and feature HDCP 2.2 copy protection—a must-have to distribute protected content to 4K displays.
At ISE 2015, the company is unveiling two models, the AT-UHD-PRO3-88M 8x8 and 6x6 AT-UHD-PRO3-66M. In addition to the video features, the products provide 48V power-over-Ethernet and allow extended-length HDBaseT cable runs up to 100 meters.
Among their integrator-friendly features, the new models provide HDBaseT outputs for both 70m and 100m cable runs, two HDMI outputs which are independently selectable as a mirrored or matrix output, analog audio de-embedding on multiple sources, EDID communications support, a Web-based GUI for matrix configuration, and front panel controls.
Both models support bi-directional remote control via IP, IR, and RS232 communications for control via third-party automation systems.
On the audio side, the units can de-embed (extract) high resolution audio streams for signals up to192kHz/24-bit plus independent control for volume, mute, and 5-band EQ for all de-embedded audio content.

Connections to analog audio outputs (unbalanced) are made with captive-screw connectors. Anticipating future software upgrades, Atlona has also equipped the new matrixes with dedicated firmware data ports for IP (RJ-45) and USB connections.
Both matrixes are offered in a 2U rack-mountable enclosure with a built-in international power supply. Like all Atlona products, they carry a 10-year warranty.
4K Extenders with HDCP 2.2
In addition to the switches, Atlona is announcing a new generation of HDMI signal extenders for long-distance transmission, all featuring 4K/UHD @ 60Hz capability and HDCP 2.2 copy protection pass-through.
The new UHD-EX Series of extenders consists of four pairs of transmitters and receivers, with a range of models that offer increasing levels of features including 70- or 100-meter signal extension of video, multi-channel audio, 48-volt PoE, and bidirectional Ethernet, IR, and RS-232, all over a single category cable.
“Extenders are the products that introduced many dealers to our brand and helped make them loyal customers,” says Atlona co-founder and president Ilya Khayn. “We waited to bring out this new line so it could be as future-proof as possible with respect to the content, displays, and other components customers are now beginning to use.”
The top-of-the-line AT-UHD-EX-100CE Transmitter/Receiver kit allows cable runs up to 100 meters (328 ft.), utilizes IEEE 802.3af standard 48V PoE for receiver power, and provides pass-through of bidirectional Ethernet and control signals.

“The UHD-EX-100CE offers the complete HDBaseT signal extension capability updated to the most current industry standards for content quality and protection,” says Khayn.
The AT UHD-EX-100CE-RX receiver is available separately to work with other Atlona HDBaseT products.
The AT-UHD-EX-70C Transmitter/Receiver kit provides 70 meters (230 ft.) of signal extension, including pass-through of bidirectional RS-232 and 12V IR control signals. As a transmitter/receiver pair, the kit is designed for use with other Atlona matrix switchers.
Atlona offers the AT-UHD-EX-70 Transmitter/Receiver kit for residential or commercial point to point applications. This kit features PoE to remotely power the receiver from the transmitter to save time and integration costs by eliminating the AC power outlet at the receiver.
The AT-UHD-EX-70-2PS Transmitter/Receiver kit provides an economical means of transmitting AV signals up to 70 meters (230 ft.) while still offering the new advanced video features of the UHD-EX series. Each transmitter and receiver in this kit comes with its own power adapter.
All four kits offer configuration-free set-up and field-updateable firmware, rear-panel I/O ports, and low-profile enclosures—2.5 cm (1 inch) high, one-quarter rack-width—for easy installation into racks and confined spaces behind displays.
All models in the series will ship in the second quarter of this year.
