  • Panasonic comes to play with the big boys with smallest 50,000 lumens projector

Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America will bring it first big lumen projector to Infocomm in Orlando Florida this week. Big on lumens Panasonic says the PT-RQ50K is still the world's smallest 50,000 lumens 3-Chip DLP projector. The PT-RQ50K is designed to create engaging and immersive experiences across live events and themed entertainment.

The demo at Infocomm is just a preview as the PT-RQ50K 3-Chip DLP SOLID SHINE 4K+ Laser Projector is set for release in December 2019.

According to Panasonic it is combining native 4K resolution at 50,000 lumens of brightness with separate red and blue SOLID SHINE laser-phosphor technology to deliver vibrant, pure and powerful color reproduction, providing eye-catching visuals for a truly immersive audience experience. Though when Panasonic speks of 4K+ or even 5K on its DLP projectors it usually involves the 0.9" WUXGA DMDs plus the Quad Pixel Drive, two axis pixel-shift.

Its compact all-in-one body brings significant workflow advantages with simplified transport and installation, which is especially important when working under time constraints. A single PT-RQ50K offers incomparable potential as multiple lower brightness projectors, eliminating the need to stack projectors.

The lumens jump from 30K to 50K Lumens allows Panasonic to play in the same arena as Barco and Christie, but it has also ben feeling the pressure from Epson, and its 25 and now 30K Lumens LCD laser-phosphor projectors that are more compact and less expensive than Panasonics 30K lumens 3 DLP projectors.

Panasonic is one of the few projector manufacturers that still offer 3LCD projectors, aside from the 3LCD manufacturer owner Epson. It faces Epson heads-on with a new 16K lumens 3LCD Laser Projector. The PT-MZ16K Series 3LCD Laser Projectors – A 16Klm SOLID SHINE 3LCD laser projector delivering ultra-bright and vivid large-screen projection. The compact & lightweight projector supports uncompressed 4K/60p signal input via HDMI or DIGITAL LINK. An eco-filter enabling 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation reduces labor, installation time and maintenance costs. With whisper-quiet operation, the PT-MZ16K projector is ideal for any education, corporate or house of worship venue. To round-out the Series, additional projectors will offer 13,000lm (PT-MZ13K) and 10,000lm (PT-MZ10K). Availability begins November 2019.

On top of this Panasonic will show 10K and 8K lumens 1 DLP chip projectors that should be available in November and December. And three new Ultra Short Throw lenses ,on for the single DLP and two for the three DLP projectors.

An RGB LED 3500 lumens projector rounds out the new projector line-up. Most likely this is using some form of HLD light conversion to het tat kind of lumens outout, like the Barco FS40/Bragi and Norxe projectors.

A slew of LCD displays upto 98" will also be on display.

"Creating memorable experiences was a key focus area for us when designing the PT-RQ50K projector. It needed to deliver outstanding brightness and image quality to allow customers in the entertainment space to push the limits of experience-oriented projection," said John Baisley, Senior Vice President of Professional Imaging & Visual Systems, Panasonic Systems Solutions Company of North America. "We've set a new benchmark in projection technology with the introduction of the PT-RQ50K projector and we're excited to premiere it at InfoComm."

As the Official Projection Technology of the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, Panasonic will be showcasing featured clips of select Disney attractions and experiences, including Frozen Ever After and Na'vi River Journey, which use the PT-RQ50K 4K+ projector, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which uses the EQ1 4K professional display, during InfoComm 2019.
