Barco and project: syntropy demonstrating JFSTT at I/ITSEC 2019
Kortrijk, Belgium, 29 November 2019 – Barco, a global leader in visualization solutions for the Training & Simulation market, is proud to showcase its latest FL40 4K LED projectors in a Joint Fire Support Team Trainer (JFSTT) together with partners project: syntropy and ESG DEFENCE + PUBLIC SECURITY at I/ITSEC 2019. The same partners involved with the delivery of ESG’s Joint Fire Support Team Training Simulator to the German Army (Bundeswehr).
The goal is to provide good insight into the capabilities of the two training simulators in service at the Training Unit for Joint Tactical Fire Support / Indirect Fire (former Artillery School) in Idar-Oberstein in Germany. These simulators offer realistic training, enabling enhanced readiness for live exercises, and their flexibility accommodates configurations fit for trainees of different skill levels.
Tapping into the advantages of the JFSTT simulator in Germany
The JFSTT simulator in Germany is a product developed by ESG DEFENCE + PUBLIC SECURITY for their client, the German Army. The trainer includes 2 turnkey full-dome projection systems provided by project: syntropy, each comprising of a 5m diameter, HFOV 220°, VFOV -30° / +90°, dome and a 7-channel Barco F50 WUXGA projection visual system calibrated for a seamless display using domeprojection.com’s auto-alignment solution.
The two JFSTT simulators in operation in Germany have proven to be very cost-effective training devices reducing the need for administrative staff and capable of providing different exercises simultaneously. They are flexible enough to be configured for different simulations for low-level training tasks as well as to interconnect them to highly complex and challenging exercises. This allows training of up to three joint fire support teams (2 JFS-crews + FAC) supporting up to a battalion against an enemy mechanized brigade. This makes the ESG JFST Trainer very cost-effective compared to training with real aircrafts. It also allows the Bundeswehr to rerun the training very easily.
Partners showcasing joint powers at I/ITSEC
The demonstration at I/ITSEC will be equipped with 6 of the latest Barco FL40 4K LED projectors, projecting on to a 4m diameter dome screen by project: syntropy. The projectors are blended/warped via domeprojection.com’s auto-alignment solution that is integrated with the Barco Pulse software built-in to the projectors to form an outstanding high-quality, seamless image. The simulator features various laser rangefinders (e.sigma) integrated with Bohemia Interactive Simulations’ VBS3 and VBS Blue IGs in a tactical training scenario by ESG.
The full solution will be demonstrated in the project: syntropy booth #1281.
