SAN JOSE, Calif., March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Prysm, Inc., a leading display and visual collaboration solutions provider, is creating a new category in the display market by unveiling its latest display innovation – the Prysm Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) 6K Series. These interactive large-format single panel displays offer a panoramic image uninterrupted by seams or bezels with power consumption similar to a commercial coffee maker. The displays are shatter-resistant, flexible and offer rollability for transport.

New Era for Video Walls – LPD 6K's Defining Technology

Very few technologies can deliver top-notch experiences across vastly different use cases, which the LPD 6K masters exquisitely. From an up-close ideation session using touch, to a private theater setting with a large audience, the images and content remain crisp and brilliant.

The new Prysm LPD 6K features:

An immersive, bezel-free viewing experience, featuring a high fill factor and an exceptional contrast ratio, resulting in striking picture quality and built-in interactivity with more than 30 simultaneous touchpoints
A cool-to-the-touch screen with low power intake, consuming at least 20 percent less energy than similarly sized LED/LCD video walls with 96 percent recyclable materials
Better serviceability with easier access from the front of the unit
The LPD 6K Series is uniquely optimized for the following markets:

Collaboration and innovation centers – coupled with Prysm's visual collaboration platform, the LPD 6K makes meetings more engaging and immersive, ultimately resulting in better, faster decisions
Digital signage – delivers a beautiful, uncompromised distance-viewing experience at 6K to draw in customers with the ability to easily switch to an immersive, touch-enabled experience
Private theaters – provides an ultra-clear, color rich 6K experience with an uninterrupted viewing experience
The new modular design helps speed display integration and permits installation in a variety of locations. The durable front screen – made of a specialty coated polycarbonate layer – is rolled into a cylinder for easy transport. Thanks to this feature, integrators can negotiate tight corners and enter through standard doors and passenger elevators during set-up - something that is nearly impossible for traditional large-format displays.

The LPD 6K Series is currently in general availability and shipping to partners and customers. The new solution is helping to define a new category of interactive large-format single panel displays, with bezel-free viewing above 100 inches, with screen sizes available at 190 and 135 inches.

Indeed surprising, as Prysm had become a software company, moving the majority of its systems onto 'so much cheaper' LGD panel based 98" or smaller LCD panels. Only above 100" there was no competition, from LCD, so that's where the company supplied its own LDP video wall technology instead of an unitary LCD.

Wow indeed. One of many questions, inputs?
It is troubling when no specifications are provided.

Traditionally LPD consisted of cubes with glass surface with a scanning laser light exiting the phosphors. Glass surface was the only transparant material that could handle the heat. I was told by Dana something at AVS that had just joined the company at the time.

Didn't realise it but two ISE's ago I saw the Prysm again, and it was indeed seemless, didn't realize the difference immediately as the glass used to be more or less seamless when stacked right, flat and not in the slightly curved demo set-up sometimes used in the past.

Prysm's LPD 6K Series just made its public debut at InfoComm 2018, currently being held in Las Vegas. Prysm's Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) 6K Series, is a first-of-its-kind, being an interactive single panel large-format display offering a panoramic image uninterrupted by seams or bezels.

"Today's enterprises are looking to encourage better workplace experiences. They require solutions that promote improved productivity and collaboration to drive business insights," said Amit Jain, CEO, Prysm. "To help meet global customer demand, we need to align with partners that have strong local presence in multiple countries, provide outstanding service and support, and have additional channel relationships. The LPD 6K provides another strong revenue opportunity for our partners, and we look forward to working with all of our key partners worldwide around new deployments."

The LPD 6K Series is targeted at experience/briefing centers, premium conference rooms and digital signage deployments. Unveiled in March, Prysm claims it eliminates the challenges associated with other video wall solutions, such as intruding seams/bezels. The lack of touch options or collaboration experiences in larger sized video walls, and poor quality viewing at multiple angles.

As it is a roll-up display the installation options are less limited, due to being too large to fit in elevators and small corridors.

This latter video does show a grid pattern, what's up, the traditional glass cubes?

It says the image resolution is 6K (horizontally) x 2K (vertically)...  2K = 2048×1080, so vertical resolution is 1080... However, it states the image resolution within the product specification sheet as being: 5616 × 1872

Further to this confusion due to seemingly conflicting information, I cannot help but note that the chroma performance is only 94%/91% of Rec.709 (!!!)

The peak luminance is also 'only' 500 nits peak (= worse than OLED) and it's limited to only 10-bit colour depth.

So forget about it doing HDR

Although clearly neither HT nor cinema is the product's primary application

Very interesting product though! And the potential is there to do something similar that IS suited to HT and cinema

I had a phone conference with two of their execs, their focus is the board room. The product sounds promising, the controller does have HDMI input. I hope they venture out to other markets. From what I took away from the meeting they are using BP projectors that fire up onto some mirror configuration and onto the panels. At that time they had two configurations both 16x9 ratio but I am seeing something much wider in the above posts.

Prysm originally was a display comany, with its laser scanning phospor plates cube wall displays. A few years ago I encountered Prysms ISE stand, and it took me a while to realise I was at Prysm. 'Yes we still have our LDP, but only for 100" or more as LCD is fare more economical at sizes below 100". However our focus is now on our remote collaboration software suite". So till the announcement of the sixth generation LPD, Prysm was a software company with LGD panel based dislays ruggedized to its specificatition.

So clearly it is back in the display world, but in the high end collaboration market, and according to this youtube clip also digital signage, in this case retail:
