Steinway Lyngdorf and Samsung The Wall are an excellent combination that's for sure. Vey intelligent move on Samsung's part

Of course there exists other good audio systems that will compliment Samsung's The Wall very nicely as well... Trinnov + Alcons for example

None like this 4 layer system with directional concussive surround bass, however (i Bet we'll see). But to each it's own.

The most extreme processing topologies DTS-X Neural X 30 channels, and Atmos cinema renderer hacked for egocentric rendering in 48 channels using all speakers.

Besides my personal "specific to this purpose" Runway that every other integrator is going to have an extra 20 years catching up, I brought the company the makes the speakers for Hans Zimmer into the high-end fold.

They had a free one-minute commercial during the Oscars.

        https://youtu.be/bOSPDaadm_c

Every speaker you see in these pictures is a 3-way collaboration, me with the manufacturer and Ernst Stavro. What better pedigree you want? Not one speaker is aimed at the wall.

Precisely. A very smart move on SAMSUNG's part

Also quite important for the high-end home cinema/theater market with respect to folks who want same-day and/or DCP content at home

Here's some additional information from SAMSUNG regarding The Wall Professional and The Wall Luxury:

The Wall Professional is the 1st generation product, to be sold into both professional and consumer markets.

The Wall Luxury is the 2nd generation product, to be sold exclusively into the consumer market; following which the The Wall Professional will be retained for sale into the professional market.

                    The modules are identical size.

                      Of particular interest:

"Han also stressed that prices [for The Wall] won't be as high as the market expects and prices will be affordable once productivity goes up and the company launches the luxury version."

The Wall Luxury is scheduled for release February 2019

I see the LED Wall market go with thinner and thinner with full front servicability, even DCi no longer will insist upon rear-access only, and now Samsung is keeping that from the commercial (note not exhibition) market. Trying to keep it luxurious and shielded from the pricing pressure of the commercial market, I infer. I am also infering that the second generation is not seeing a jump in the fineness of pitch equivalent to support 8K in Euro size premium rooms. Samsungs DCP server partner was promoting its own Samsung LED based 8K system a year and a halve ago, like Samsung a big one, 65 foot.

Of course 3 centimeters thick is quite delicate, to delicate for commercialapplications, perhaps?

The Korea Herald's coverage of friday's press conference reveals the soujrce of Samsungs confidence in being able to raise yields to commercial production levels:

“Samsung’s micro LED displays will be totally different from previous LED products, because they will use an advanced flip-chip bonding technology proprietarily owned by the company,” said Yoo Ho-sun, vice president of Samsung’s visual display business.

                            UPDATE REGARDING THIS:

"Han [President Han Jong-hee, head of Samsung's Visual Display business] stressed that prices [for The Wall] won't be as high as the market expects and prices will be affordable once productivity goes up and the company launches the luxury version."

So I just spoke with the main sales and marketing people for SAMSUNG's The Wall and IF series and the immediate response is that this is FAKE NEWS, in that The Wall Professional prices are precisely as per I have previously published and that The Wall Luxury will in fact be "slightly more expensive [than The Wall Professional] in the order of about $30,000 more expensive [for the 4x4 module 146" 4K 16:9 configuration]" which would mean it will have an MSRP of circa $380,000.

I am awaiting a definitive response regarding that article and will report back as and when I receive it from SAMSUNG.

I have also requested the corresponding pricing for all the various module configurations, as well as those with respect to the IF products.

There is some good news, in that I have it confirmed that the IF series will be customizable as per The Wall Luxury, which means that a scope aspect ratio giant sized screen, with 4K horizontal resolution but lesser vertical resolution (akin to the 4x3 The Wall Luxury configuration) will be available for significantly less than $99,999

That better include de IMB then.

Residential version of commercial product always gets a price premium. It is mass market consumer electronics that are cheaper than smaller volume, more rugged, preferably 24/7, commercial electronics.

Originally the IF was a bit reactionary bucking the 16:9 trend. But the 1.25 one we saw at ISE was HD in 4 modules if I remember correcly. It definitly was HD, 16:9.

Peter in the past posted many configurations, with 2.0, 1,87, 1.77 ratio's based on the classic commercial IF series (non-16:9) 1.5mm pitch modules (smallest on offer last year).
