  • Re: NEW SONY 4K HDR NEXT-GENERATION RGB LASER CINEMA PROJECTOR AT CINEMACON 2017

    Great report.

Huh I throught many green LASERs included frequency doubling. The phosphor part was new to me, as I had not investigated the methods for doubling the frequency. Green has always been the weakest point in color LASER. Output relatively low, inefficient or requiring frequency doubling. The frequency doublng however is considere part of the LASER. Where the human visual system is most responsive to the green range.

Second generation laser, what did they refer to as the first generation Sony LASER? The 5000 lumens modules announced four or five years ago?

Not triple flash, so it is native 60 FPS with frame interpolation or is it less limited and capable of 120 FPS or even 240 FPS (I see great potential in the larger market of simulation)?

No nm info, lol oke :fun.

The Barco has a disadvantage in having a large requirement in external cooling. But to be fair there are two projectors in that picture, as well as a server rack, not just the barco DP4K 30HC. The Christie uses two DCi sized projector plus one or two external laser racks (per head). Hence its prototype of a 30K and potentially a 40K lumens unified body with internal LASER source and LASER cooling.

The prototype is indeed a steam locomotove with a rounded boiler on top of a boxy undercarriage.

Who cares about rebranding it usually comes with a hefty premium. Commercial products are just that, 'Professional Products', if they are just not issuing a ban on selling these to takers.

Particular pricepoint is how much, ballpark figure, ah at least six figures.

Thanks for the extensive report! We all run into the issue of what people are unwilling to tell. Even after or at product launch it can be hard to get comprehensive if, so let alone a year ahead of launch.

Next time you should ask me in advance when you like to use my picture from a competteting company in your pdf and made it public.

Not nice to hear that Sony having a problem during transport and that they not can show 3D with this new Laser Projector.

We had no idea that was your intellectual property image... We found it in the public domain on GOOGLE without any mention of copyright whatsoever so how could we possibly know?

Also, we are not a competing  company... But anyway...
