  • Sony SRX-R815P laser projector.

Sony SRX 815 is in place. It uses the same projector stand as the SRX 515 although it is a little larger and heavier than the 515.
Sexy looking machine. Will share more over the weekend.

          So how is the picture?
Do you measure cr on off?

I hear from 2 installations that the have around 9500:1

I plan to do the calibration this evening and I will measure the contrast and post some numbers. Picture looks very nice, more to follow.

Little Guy is a Chinese industrial water chiller.

This seller also mentions use to cool diode laser arays, the pump used depending on the application.

Donald, I think NEC may also be using this chiller. Very easy to use and simple installation. Good choice by Sony.

That explains the nice factory black paint, compared to the standard industrial off-white grey elsewhere, it is a Sony package. Always good to have a single point of blame.

Since it is water not a pressurised refrigerant running through these lines, can you also easily install it in another location, to unload the heat elsewhere?

If last year's 10K:1 on-off contrast claim is somewhat real, as Wolfgang suggested above, and it is stabile, it is not just the case that is big, the image will be too. Add some Eclair Colour material to complete the picture. Eclair originally was Sony exclusive now also supports Barco HC and the Samsung Onyx.

Measurement taken using the Minolta T-10 illuminance meter at 1.5 feet from lens with projector set to 30% laser power.

                    Peak white: 19650
                    Black: 2.0

                    Native contrast: 9825:1

                      Nice number!

I think you take the internal Test Pattern to do this measurement right?
Where did you measure in the center?

Now go and put a Iris in this huge optic and boost it to 20.000:1 that should be possible at least when you using less than 50% Laser Power.
At least you will come close to the 20K:1 cr. on off.
I doubt that the other thing we discuss brings you any further with a new unit.

The 815 has 5 lasers, one dedicated Blue laser and 4 phosphor lasers. "The picture looks amazing" the ANSI highlights against the deep black level really shine's. Colors hit full P3 and are nicely saturated. I hate lime green, I am pleased the 815 delivers a nice deep saturated green.

                        Well done Sony!

5 individual high power lasers, or 5 arrays of lasers?

The arrays all consist of blue lasers, just one has no further phoshors asociated?

Or is there also a bank of red lasers, like in the latest crop of mcl, bold color, colour boost projectors?

Yes, that is a better description.

I was searching in a folder and I found this info about the Sony Quallia the world first Full HD LCOS Pr.

Native cr. the Qualia have was only 1.400:1 and with a huge light lost only 2.000:1.

Now the 815 4K LCOS Laser have native 10.000:1 at full light output!

Is it not strange in a few years how far we come?
So I think what we will have in 6 years from now?
