Im still not 100% sure I am putting the aperture in the correct spot, but it is going where the smallest opening in the lens is, and it seems to be effective.

The professional way to make a cats eye aperture. Piece of sheet metal. Image of a cats eye shape from online. Print, tape, trace out, cut out, paint with black paint. Open $10K lens and insert 50 cent piece of metal. lol

Nice work Chris. Your lens is completely different then mine what is your throw ratio.
The artwork in your last post makes it look so easy

I am very impressed by what you guys are doing. I am puzzled by the observation that the uniformity got worse with a smaller round centered aperture. Maybe it was slightly off center.

That could be the case it took me several tries to get the iris centered with the offset of my lens. Because of the reduced aperture I would have to re position the iris if my installation required the lens be in a different offset position.
