  • As you can see in the pictures the new 3 front speakers that will be in the back of the new V6 screen arrive.

    They are bigger than thought.
Tomorrow the molton fabric will arrive to cover the existing screen material as I decide to not put the existing screen out.
The trade of is that this will cost me about 20 cm deep as front of the existing screen is about 18cm from the back wall and speakers need to be in front of my existing screen with some few cm distance that it not hit the old screen.

This also will shrink the viewing distance in the good 20 cm range and the width of the new screen as my room shrink in width from screen to the seats.
But we talk about some few cm only so not an issue.

The advantage is that hopefully the existing screen will be intact and not destroy by trying the big V6 screen.

        • Today we will watch the last movie with my old screen.

The Lord of the Rings The return of the King BD.

From tomorrow on my cinema will be down for some time.

My plan was to remove the 3 front speaker some light covers that kills
reflected light from the screen to the eyes.
Next will be to cover the whole area of my existing screen
with black molton and install new speakers in front of it.
Then a specially construction will be made to tighten up the new Dream Screen V6 material.

          • The nightmare to change my screen start tonight see the 4 pictures.

As you can see there I had so many sound correctors I do not remember I have put that much inside.

I hope it will be a good outcome and that I will see soon a perfect V6 screen with not any bugs that will show me what I had saw and that push me to do this kind of action.
Big visible increase of cr. and reduction of the very little speckle for 3D that I can see but most not.

            • It looks like King Kong came through and destroyed everything but it is all cleaned out now and ready for the new screen. No movies for a few more days!!

More people should use your method of light traps to catch reflections and maximize contrast in your room.

                • Note:
At this moment pictures are only visible for those that register.
The Forum will change this so that for all include this that are not register can see pictures.
I dont know how long this will take:

We remove today the old speaker and cover the existing Harkness Matt Preview Screen with a black Molton fabric.
Reason was that as the new V6 Material let may 1 to 2 % of the light going true and there was in theory the possibility that my existing white screen reflect some very low amount of light back to the front of the new V6 Screen that can reduce the cr.
To make this impossible I cover the existing screen with black Molton.
Also if worst comes to worst I can remove this Molton fabric and can easy use my old screen again.

Next will be to made a wooden Frame on the 4 walls in about 10cm in front of the speakers and there I need to find out how I will exactly put the new V6 material.
I had some good ideas and just need to decide what is the best idea.

Hope I can finish it fast as I can’t wait to see how the new V6 Screen perform.

                  • After some delay in customs the new stronger screen holder arrive me.
See yourself the black (much better than white or gray!) stronger one are for the V6 XXL.

I have order the wooden holder that will take the new black version today and likely get it till this weekend.

Hope to find time over the weekend to mount the new screen since Sunday the first Germany Soccer game at the World Cup are likely broadcast in 4K!
That will be a perfect timing if it works.

                      • Wolfgang the original extruded profiles look so unbelievable small for the size screen, I am sure the new one will be stronger.

As far as I know Sky Deutschland has rights to 25 of 64 matches, to show them in 4K. All matches will be produced in 4K this year. There must be some 8K trials, but I have not seen announcements for those. Expect those to be closed, though. Perhaps some clips might make it to an IFA/IBC demo this september.

Here in Holland the public broadcaster is selling the 4K coverage to MVPDs. Satellite Pay-TV distributor Canal Digitaal has set-up a dedicated 4K channel for the event.Taking in the signal from the public broadcaster NOS, compressing, encrypting it and having it uplinked to ASTRA 23.5 East. The only other operator taking the programming is incumbent Telco KPN. However it is part of the top 4K tier, and therefore only offered to those with 100 Mbit/s or faster connections, so the fiber customers are covered, but the DSL coverage is far from universal. The main cable operator Ziggo does not offer the service. It focusses on F1 in 4K and some other sports.

Belgian public broadcaster VRT is also involved in the Dutch 4K service, so it should have an 4K service aswell. The BBC offers games online.

Italy has no 4K coverage, not even through Sky, plenty of complaints found online.

Qatar headquartered BeIN is blocked in many Arabic countries, but highly pirated with Arabsat aiding and abetting according to the pay-tv operator that holds the TV rights to the World Cup, for the region.

                        • Some delay so no 4K soccer game for me tomorrow but important is we win the game

Here are the wooden tools I got today.
                          2 samples for try.
As you can see the wooden pieces hold the grid where you put the screen material.
Now I need to figure out how is the best as I like to mask the screen as well and I have some ideas how it can be done without loosing too much of the size of the screen.

                          • Bad news.
                            The left speaker was defect.
I dont know is this a good or bad news as it comes up before the V6 screen material covers the speakers and it will be time consuming to going after finish the screen to the speakers.

                            • It is never nice to have something break but as you say, in your case its better that it happens before the screen goes up.
Hopefully it will be a timely fix.

                              • Now all 3 speakers are not working!
Looks like there is something wrong with the 12V trigger that switch the aktive speaker on.

The Speaker manufacturer will come next week Monday to fix it.

One good thing this all happen is that we move the amplifier from the box out of the back screen area.
This will be a nice thing as if there is anything with the speakers it was mostly the electronic amplifier section responsible for a error and it will be easy to change this parts or repair it compare to open the screen for it.
